I have nothing but high praise for Bob's (Elite Razor) Manchurian 24 2 band knot which at the opening comes out at 26-27. This over-stuff knot has extremely soft tips, good backbone that gives a full badger lathering. If you like a brush/knot that is scrubby (a face massage) this knot is not for you (my opinion). If you like a brush that is soft with strong character Bob's knot's are at the top of my list. (I can't tell you about the characteristics of the 26 or 28 Manchurian 2 band knot or bulb head).

Below are five of my brushes that have Bob's fan knots with varying lofts from 50 to 54. (as you can see I like variations of the 7 handle)

I fully agree.... 2 of his brushes below with 26/52mm Manchurian knots. Excellent batch of hair and great handle craftsmanship!

My experience is with Elite's 24, 26 and 28mm Manchurian White bulb knots.  I concur with your assessment about these knots.  They have strong backbone and soft tips.  I imagine the fan shape of yours results in somewhat less but still sufficient backbone.  These knots don't have the scrub of a Simpson Manchurian or Shavemac D01 2-band, but no other knot does and not everyone likes that level of scrub.  In terms of the knots available for custom brushes, I now go with either Shavemac Silvertip 2-Band or Elite Manchurian White.  By far, my favorite Manchurian White is the 28mm.  Mine is every dense and measures almost 33mm at the top of the handle.  Set to a low loft of 50+mm, this brush is superb for face lathering.

I have been gravitating to fans lately as it relates to 2 band knots as the hair has typically significant resilience by itself without needing further backbone through the bulb shape. But there are notable exceptions (Simpson 2 band of old as the hair is so fine). I have not used any of Bob's but shaped knots. But I do have a shavemac 2 band silvertip bulb that is great.  Maybe next time...  Biggrin

I've got one that was marked 24mm but I had to bore out the handle to just under 28 to even fit it in there. I set it 15mm deep, and it's a scrubscrubscrubby !!! No scritch, but plenty of scrub.

Good question, I had 4 envy,s 2 I purchased about 2 years ago l really like them though i have not used them in awhile so I really can,t give you an honest comparison, though i should pull them out and reintroduce myself to them.

I purchased 2 more envy,s a year or so later, they were not the same to much scritch for me. I found that the envy knot was not consistent so I feel lucky that I have the 2 that I have. I purchased 6 of Bob,s 24s  from 3 different batches and they have been consistent in their quality.

In my experience, Envy White is not as soft and has some scritch.

High praise indeed for Bob's knots. Going to have to bite the bullet and get one soon.

I have three of Bob's brushes. I used a Manchurian White knot in the latest and love it. I concur with all of the above!

I agree, I have a 24 MW and it's the star of my small brush rotation. Won't be my last!
