My PLP Rose is getting grainy.  I feel its crystalizing like honey.  Not as bad but I can feel the salt grain when touched with fingers.  Its does load fine and once lathered it melts almost 100%. However, I do still feel some grain when applying. Sort of exfoliation happening.

Anyone else had any soap go grainy.  Soap is less than a year old and I live in SoCal so its not cold kept by any means.

Hi, you should contact Cyril (LPL) present on this forum and explain this to him with photos in support.

I am sure he will find a solution to your problem, and it may interest him to have a return on what you meet.

You live in a very dry or wet region?

This happened to me when I lived in Los Angeles (never again).

PapySnake, it is an eternal drought.

I have no idea how they even survive.

Yes, I suspect, you lived the same thing? With shaving soaps?

PapySnake is right you should definitely share the info with Cyril. How long have you had the soap? I also live in SoCal (Inland Empire) and have 3 LPL soaps but haven't noticed this happening to them. I've had the Rose for a little over a year.

I live in San Diego and its usually 72 here and not dry or high in RH.  I also have 2 other LPL soaps and they are fine.  It is not something that can be photographed easy without touching and feeling it.
My soap collection is somewhere in 50 pucks so perhaps it could be lack of use.

I will write Cyril but not sure what he can really do.  It might help him with formulation than again the other lpls are fine.

Hi Cyril.  Yes I dry all my soaps overnight with lid open. Here are the picture of the soap not sure if you can see it. The soap is the same consistency as new not hard and not too soft the scent is all there.   I also shaved off top layer to see if it was only the top layer, however, it seems that is not the case.

I've noticed the same thing in Alvarez Gomez creams. Hasn't affected the performance for me.

I have seen it too. In other soaps before too.

I don't know what it is, but I don't have any issues with it when used. Something crystalized.

I think I have had it happen with Mike's Natural lime. Which is a totally different kind of soap to begin with. Maybe they have a common ingredient?

Rinse the surface of your shaving soaps once your shaving is finished? But obviously, it seems not to be on the surface of your soaps, if I understood correctly.

And leave the lid open then, drying time?

My Le Pere Lucien Cedre Patchouli 200g( June 2016):

By that time, I had not used it more than 6-7 times.

I didn't want to risk it and tossed it.

I sent an email to Cyril regarding this matter, he recommended me to send it back to France in order to see it and send me another. Of course, I didn't do that because I had thrown it away. I have too many soaps to continue using one in that condition.

I like LPL soaps, I've made several threads and comments about them here, but I would never expect that problem from an admittedly premium soap.

edit: I always, always, leave my soaps open overnight and close them the next day. I store them in ideal conditions.

Oh, shame this issue! Especially that Cyril (LPL) is ruled, he would have kept his promised word.

I see few folks have the crystallization issue.  I am glad I am not the only person.  I rinse and air dry overnight.  I actually baby the.  LoL.

Hopefully Cyril can find out the root cause.. I just hope my 2 other 200g tins do not go through transformation.

Must look at my 9 LPL soaps now. I haven't used the other 8 LPL in 1 year or so, but used my 9.th LPL the new LPL tallow Fougere last week, but it's my newest LPL.

This is just one of the reasons why I have stopped purchasing more soaps and creams for a loooong time and most likely will go unscented, when I'm done using what I have in my collection up.

The same thing happened with fragrances, when I reached 500+ full bottles, it becomes absurde to have more bottles than there are days in a year.

These days I buy perhaps 2 bottles of fragrance a year, because at a point it starts to become absurde to buy what ever new formula of soap and new scent in a fragrance, these guys release day after day for them to make a living....

It is great to have Cyril back on the board. But my thought is that since the Rose de Pushkar formula is based high in stearic acid and coconut oil, that these are simply fatty acids from the main carrier oils curing and hardening. This seems to happen quite frequently with Italian soft soaps that may not have been used frequently or as of recently. Not saying that members can't ask, shouldn't share these photos or possibly complain but in my opinion, the soaps are likely fine. They may be a bit firmer in texture but that this may not be an issue when it comes to the quality of soap and/or the freshness of the soap.

This has happened to me with Cella on multiple occasions.  Not to worry, some fine artisans explained this is a normal crystallization of stearic acid that occurs with age on some soaps.  Harmless outside of the salt-like texture.
