I check my kit, and bring a DE, synthetic (dries fast enough to move around), shave stick, and sometimes a cream. I went on a carry-on only trip and swapped out the DE for a cartridge, but did bring the brush & soap.

For aftershaves, I have small sample vials that I fill from home.

I also bring DE blades that come in a plastic dispenser w/ a used blade slot, for times I am on multi-week trips. I don't want to worry about finding a sharps container.

Recently, picked up a sweet horween leather DE razor holster from a maker on Etsy. Used it on one domestic business trip so far and it works great for protecting the razor... and protecting my fingers from the blade. As previous users mention, any DE/ SE blades have to be checked or purchased locally- no bueno to carry on. Safe travels!

Recently flew with straight razors, soaps, and aftershaves - all in a checked bag with no issues.  None of those would work with a carry on of course.
