Only a few members talk about this incredible cream, but those who do (are well respected members, and they) only have very very good things go say, even in our very "soaps are better than creams" culture.

So, if you haven't tried it, YOU NEED TO. It is phenomenal 10/10 in both scent and all aspects of performance!

For those who have tried it, please show your love here Smile

I agree Matt, one of the best creams available. I also am enjoying a puck of vintage 89 soap.

Thanks Richard. What do you like about the cream?

(Enjoy the soap btw! Hard to come by! Nice find.)

The scent!! It easily lathers into a luscious, slick lather with terrific after shave face feel. Very moisturizing. After trying far too many quality soaps, I've developed an interest in trying better creams, and have been pleasantly surprised.

It is a fantastic fragrance and a wonderful performer. The longer i trek into wet shaving the more i like. There is much, much more that works and works well than not. But 89 is remarkable.

Anyone know if there's a difference between the No.89 cream in the older, light blue/gold packaging to the newer, dark blue? Looking at the website, it's advising to apply by hand and no mention of using a brush.

Agree on the slickness. It may have the best combination of slickness and cushion of any cream I've tried. Definitely top 3.
And the scent is heavenly. No mistaking this came from a proper perfumer. Very sophisticated and all the right little accents for a perfect hit.

I haven't used the very newest actually. I have the previous one with parabens. However Ron (Steelman) has told me the new one without parabens is excellent as well (and maybe he said it was even better, I think, I can't even imagine!!!)

Thanks, Matt. The soaps, both veggie and the original tallow, give me irritation. Perhaps I should give the cream a go.

As mentioned, parabens have been removed; replaced with phenoxyethanol.

Old:
Aqua (Water), Stearic Acid, Myristic Acid, Potassium Hydroxide, Coconut Acid, Glycerin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Triethanolamine, Parfum (Fragrance), Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium PEG-7 Olive Oil Carboxylate, Allantoin, Dimethicone, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Propylene Glycol, Alcohol, Chamomillia Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Limonene, Linalool, Geraniol, Citronellol, Coumarin, Citral, Evernia Prunastri (Oakmoss) Extract

New:

It's been a while since I've used the old (never used the new), but, personally, I didn't care for the scent — even had a fresh sample of the EdT which I found off-putting, tbh. Obviously, YMMV. Performance (of cream itself) was satisfactory.

I'm impressed by the commitment to using oakmoss extract though (which was supposed to be banned in Europe).

The new formula in the blue tube is fantastic.

Very smooth, creamy, cushiony white lather. The scent of the shave cream is better than the EdT.

It's so easy to lather - that there are days when I just rub a dollop between my palms and face lather with it. No brush needed. When using a brush..lather is prolific.

If anyone reads my responses to posts regarding "top soap or cream" I routinely place Floris #89 in my top 3. Together with SMN V3 it's my top cream. But the experience is different than SMN. Don't quite know how to explain it. Floris is somehow more "creamy".

The matching Aftershave balm is equally outstanding.

I'd encourage every wet shaver to try them. It's the epitome of luxury every bit as much as SMN, Czech and Speake, etc.

David - try Shavedash first before splashing out on an expensive 150ml.

I've tried this cream and it smells nice but it isn't premier league and in no way equal to Jabonman / CRSW / C&S / NSS / Nuavia for slickness.

Dave, sometimes you can find it on the bay but I haven't gotten it there. I have only bought from the manufacturer's website:

I disagree, or I wouldn't have made this thread. I encourage you to retry.
This is for sure one of those "I've only had remarkable success" items that comes along once every couple years, for me.
There is no bigger fan of C&S than me and I still think Floris cream is every bit as good. In fact, the post-shave of Floris is probably better, no exaggeration on my part.

Thanks for the suggestion, Paul.

As a soap user with JabonMan as my #1, I'm certainly curious to try the No.89 cream and I've already ordered it from Floris, this evening.
