So my elderly neighbor came to me this afternoon with a problem. His vintage 1970's shortwave radio made by zenith was dead and he couldn't get the batteries to work in it. I went to his apartment a couple hours later and got it working. As we were shooting the breeze i told him of my adventures in wet shaving. He then got up, went to the cupboard and handed me a box containing these double edge blades. I have no idea how old they are but on a couple of the blades i could see MADE IN THE USA... personna maybe? It does say "compare to Schick double edge blades" and "Super Stainless Double Edge Blades With Platinum Chrome" on the packaging. Any ideas where these came from as in what manufacturer? Either way it's a good score![Image: ad8d5775ef7a9114e170ba7bac13cb22.jpg][Image: d81ae60a7a4ee70528dc74627ea9225d.jpg]

A good deed don't go unrewarded Smile

As for what I can find:
- Dolgencorp, Inc. is behind the Dollar General stores, so we're talking either rebranded blades or store brand. Dollar General still lists DE blades on their website, but in a different packaging (with a neat looking push-button-to-dispense blade holder). Their current blades don't list Platinum Chrome on the front, so I guess that was done away with to maintain the profit margin.
- According to an old thread over on B&B the Dollar General DE blades were rebranded Korean Dorco back in 2010... so these are probably older or possible newer. Same thread states that the blades from 2015 (in the same packaging as the current blade) is made in Taiwan.
-An old thread over on shavemyface claims that some of the Dollar General Blades from 2011 in the same kind of packaging as yours had stickers on the back stating that the blade was made in Israel, but others in the same packaging were marked as Made in the US.

To sum up; most likely a rebranded blade, from around 2011 pluss/minus a few years. Let us know how they shave Smile

So I called the 800 number on the back of the package, in the picture that you provided. The blades are American Safety Razor Corp. Packaged for Dollar General
So they are Personna

Often, blades in that type of dispenser, sold by stores as their house brand, are rebranded Personna, made in either the USA or Israel.  Nice find and a good neighbor.

I use to buy those. They shave great.

I went to dollar general the other day. The blades there now are made in vietnam. When I get back to a DE shave I will try one.

The way it was designed there is a wire with cardboard on it that makes the positive battery connection to the power work and it balances like a see saw now that another part broke that was plastic. So you gotta fiddle with it to get it lined up perfect before good connection is made. I'll fix it next year for him with a piece of aluminum foil if he's still alive.

I think your blades are rebranded Personnas b/c "platinum chrome" seems to be their trademark [left].  Dollar Gens more recent offerings [middle] also look exactly like another type of Personnas [on right].  Your platinum chromes should be very decent blades although not top tier [i.e., Gillette Plats or Silver Blues or Black Ninjas, Personna Blues etc.]  The newer stainless steel blades are a notch below.
