I think that , by now , every time we read about CRSW we know the quality that is associated it with this artisan brand of shaving soaps. No matter if the line is Premium , Select , Original or Oliva , the top notch quality of their products speaks by themselves

The Select line is superb , both in the ingredients being used as well as the range or scents.

This is a tallow based shaving soap with other quality ingredients like lanolin , Goat Milk , lanolin , Shea Butter , Avocado oil : a combination of pure goodness made soap.

Making lather with it is very easy. Here with a WSP Stubby Silvertip brush (the brush I use the most these days) after loading it for less than 15 seconds :

And here is the lather I obtain after a minute and no water added (wasn't necessary) :

Skin care wise , well , I'm sure you're guessing what I'm going to tell you : but reading the ingredients and seeing the lather , you already know that take care of the skin from the very moment that the lather touches your skin.Very cushiony lather , with a layer of protection which provides a good glide.

But the scent is what I'm focusing the more these days.I have tried plenty of Sandalwood based shaving soaps and creams.Several years ago , when I started using U.K. soaps and creams , the T&H was too. After that , AoS came along with their Sandalwood cream and soap (the cream was made in UK and the soap in Italy) and took over that spot.I wasn't the biggest fan of that scent but it was very good indeed.Actually much better than the Castle Forbes cedar &y Sandalwood , at least for me.

Well , at this talk just to say that this soap smells like a real Sandalwood soap should smell.Actually this is what the traditional U.K. Sandalwood scented soap and creams should smells like : not sweet , not overpowering , not a mixed of other scents with Sandalwood , just a woody , manly , simple but brilliant Sandalwood scent.Thats all.No more and no less.Just pure Sandalwood.

As I said , smells woody and spicy, not sweet like the C&E Sandalwood , not like talc (Geo F Trumper) , not like a more complex scent (AoS or T&H).

For 15.75 $ for 4 oz of soap , excellent Sandalwood scented soap with top notch skin care properties.

With the WSP Sandalwood , a great choice made in USA.

Sandalwood was never a favorite scent of mine. However, I picked up a CRSW bundle on the BST that included Larry's sandalwood, and wow! I absolutely love this scent, and as with all CRSW versions - I load it super dense and get excellent shaves every time. I'm pleased that it's been re-released with the new offerings, as I'll definitely re-order as soon as I finish my current tin.

Firstly, great to see you back writing Teiste !

Secondly, I agree 110% - CRSW Sandalwood is the perfect sandalwood scent

Thirdly, CRSW is just so fantastic a performer, it's not even funny. Deadly serious, this is the Be it all of a shaving soap.

Thanks! I agree with everything you've written. This is one of my two favorite vendor/scent combinations and the best sandalwood scent in a great soap I've ever experienced.

I'm in the same boat as you. I never did fancy the sandalwood scent ever since I've started wetshaving. When I first began, I bought few samples of Trumpers cream and I favored the sandalwood scent the least. I also managed to pick u pa CRSW bundle and Larry's scent has changed my mind about sandalwood! It has a great light crips scent, not too strong or woody/spicy like other sandalwood soaps.

No need to apologize Teiste. You were correct in listing goat milk for your particular version of the Sandalwood soap. The new base does not contain goat milk.

Thank you for listening and bringing the scents over to the new formula. My Limenthol arrived and it totally rocks in the new soap. Not that the old soap was bad, this one is so much better. Didn't think it was possible to improve on the old Select but you did it!

Nice review.
CRSW Sandalwood is a great one. This and AoS sandalwood are the only two I like.

I've tried the CRSW Sandalwood, its very nice but I think the best sandalwood scented soap i've ever smelled is Caties Bubbles Santal Sensuelle. It's a nice woody sandalwood. I find WSP sandalwood a little too powdery for my liking.

Maybe you have an old version and he switched the scent at some point, because I bought WSP Sandalwood in Formula T about a month ago and there is literally nothing powdery about it. It's straight wood.
