I only use blades once.

Me too, DE blades are pretty inexpensive and I have so many of them. One and done!

Not I, Kojak. I get at least three shaves per blade.

Holy Hannah!  That article makes so much sense.  May also partially explain why I, who rinses & strop after every shave, seem to get more shaves . . . that and my superior technique of course! ?

Thanks very much for this article. I used to push a blade to 4-5 two pass shaves, but lately, since I've been buying tucks of 100 of this, that, and the other blade, I have been doing two shaves per blade and tossing them. I am going to make an effort to dry them by patting with a Kleenex tissue after each shave.

I always remove each blade from the razor and let them air dry after thoroughly rinsing them under the tap. But I'll add this extra precaution and see if it pays off.

BTW, in terms of using a blade only once, I would not do that simply because with some of the sharper blades I feel the second shave is smoother than the first. YMMV.

Now my beard is average and I was told so by a friend who also happened to be a barber and who gave me a straight shave or two, before then I thought I had a tougher and coarser than average beard, and I get at least 10-12 three pass shaves from the vintage stainless blades I use. When I was using current models I always got 3-4 shaves a blade except for Feathers which weren't good for 2.
