Here is one of the better ones from my collection. This came from a case of 5, I believe, that were sold by a drug store owner(?) who had them in a box in his garage. They sold on eBay I believe but I was late to the party and got it from a guy who got one of the five on eBay. I think I am remembering it correctly.

One of the greatest Gillette sets!  Thanks for sharing your rare gem!  And as Ricardo mentioned, make sure and post in Introdcutions, and introduce yourself to the forum!

Beautiful set. A real slice of history.

Does anyone know if the heads on these are similar to the Aristocrat?

I don't have any British Aristocrats and am not too familiar with them but I have heard experts in them call the 1949-50 Gillette Executive the finest "American" razor Gillette ever made. Ha..

Yes I know. But what they were implying is all the British set are far superior to anything made in the USA except for maybe the Executive from 1949 and 1950 which might come close...

I misinterpreted your meaning of "American" - apologies.  As for the claim around British Gillette superiority, I'd have to agree with them with respect to razors of that period with yes, a few exceptions like the Executive.  The build quality was much more substantial across the board.  If you hold (not to mention use) say a Gillette Rocket or any of the British Aristocrats, you'll find out what I mean.  Awesome razors.

I agree with you. I had a Rocket HD once but sold it. Still have my #58. Great build quality. Never owned a Brit Aristocrat though.
