Another artisan soap made in USA which have pleasantly surprised me.

It's not my intention to hype or shill any shaving soap or artisan brand in particular : I think we had enough of that on the past. But I feel we are living on the mature age of the Made in USA artisan soaps , specially the brands that came out 2 or 3 years ago and have been pursuing the excellence in their shaving soaps. This would be another topic of discussion , but , with all honesty , I have made peace with the artisan shaving soaps made in USA.

This is the case , along many others (CRSW , Wholly Kaw , WSP etc comes to mind of the latest ones I have been shaving with) , of Sapone di Paolo.A very Italian name for a great veggie based shaving soap.

This soap also has a great , elegant , presentation , with the new brand style and on a plastic jar with 4 oz of shaving soap inside.

The soap is veggie based but not vegan , since contains lanolin , with also Shea Butter , Aloe Vera , Mango Butter , Silk Protein etc

Don't want to repeat myself a lot , but my dry skin appreciates all those ingredients when shaving because they truly offer a great skin care.

Making lather with this soap couldn't be easier.Using the L'Occcitane Plisson synthetic brush :

And the lather I obtain after a minute building it on the palm of my hand :

The lather is really creamy.I would say , very , very creamy and while being thick is also slick. It leaves a layer of "oil" over my skin , which I have noticed it in the last 3 shaves with it , and leaves it nourished it.This type of lather reminds me of the one that some folks get from the MWF shaving soap.

My skin , as I previously said , appreciated this extra protection during the shave.

And it's scent is another point in favor : the combination of Lime and Basil notes creates a fragrance both fresh and herbal , with some bitter notes mixed with sweet ones.Gosh , is hard to describe it , but I would tell you that it took me back to Italy , walking around some places by the city of Positano.
The scent is noticeable as soon as you open de lid but is not overpowering at all. Also last during the whole shave.
Takes you by surprise the combination of both Lime and Basil items , but I would tell you that this soap is going to be with me for this coming Spring and Summer , since this scent is more suited for that kind of weather.

This is a great shaving  soap with a nice scent.Another well made artisan shaving soap.Well done Sapone di Paolo !

Sapone Di Paolo makes amazing soaps and I have 6 different ones. I am currently in love with their soaps and Shannon's Soaps as they are the two that give me the best lather and protection for my sensitive skin. I am about to order some of the Catties Bubbles soaps to try them as well.

I agree Teiste - the new formula of SDP with its associated scents is outstanding - pretty balanced overall, slick and protective with very nice post shave feelings.

Really well done SDP

I have a new one in its way Smile looking forward

Great review Tieste! I agree, Paolo makes amazing soap and his Agrume is one of my favorite scents. Fresh and herbal with a beautiful natural lime. Performance of SdP soaps are top tier.

Refreshing comes to mind. Not so much the review, your a little late to the dance if you ask me but then again no ones asking me, the soap, the shave, the smile it puts on my face…refreshing.

I received my Terroso, Agrume, Pulito and Bosco soaps today and every scent is great!  Test lathered with Agrume - practically loaded the brush before I hit the puck and the lather was wonderful.  First shave still to come but if the skin conditioning is anything like it was on my hand, it will not disappoint.  Biggrin

Tempted to get the Bosco. What does it smell like? Also, anybody have the Cremoso? Those are the only 2 that I don't have.

The Bosco is labeled as Cedar, Vetiver & Sweetgrass.  I get the earthy vetiver and grass on top and the cedar softly in the background if that helps.  It's a nice, soft scent and not in your face like some cedars can be.  Very nice.

Cremoso is a very enjoyable blend of coconut and vanilla to my nose. The scent in the soap is wonderful, balm not so much. Not sure if it's the ingredients in the balm, but reminds me of sunburn cream.

Paolo's soaps and balms are fantastic. Easy to lather and great cushion, glide, and post shave face feel. I enjoy all of his scents, and consider Agrume my favorite lime scented soap. I probably reach for Arancione (sweet orange), and Albera (blue spruce) most often, but I also love Cremoso (cocunut). I don't think there is a better balm on the market, and use one of them almost daily. Great review Tieste. I highly recommend these soaps to anyone who hasn't tried them.
