Just got mine in the mail today. If this stuff shaves half as good as it smells I'm throwing out my mdc.

I'm guessing the fragrance costs a little more than their general fare as well

"That's a bold move Cotton. Let's see if it pays off."

Well the jar doesn't make up the full $20 difference of course.  Seeing as it's a legitimate collaboration between CFG & Zoologist, he's getting Rhino directly from them and not some cheap knockoff or an attempt at matching (homage etc) the EdP (would probably be much more expensive had he not worked something out with Zoologist, as the EdP alone is $130?/bottle). In coming weeks we'll know whether the reception to Rhino is overall positive and Ron said he is looking to do more releases of Zoologist's remaining perfumes.  So we'll see.

They just sold out ~350 tubs, which only went on sale Friday. I'd say that's a huge success.

Just used mine for the first time this morning. Really great scent.

OK. Shaved with it this morning. To me it smells like industrial cleaner, maybe it will change after a few uses. The lather and slickness are top notch I must say. Very impressed.

I am obviously late to the party.
A friend had sent me recently samples of zoologist civet, macaque and elephant.

I had them lying unused in my bathroom for quite some time as I felt no urge to try these odd smelling things.
Today I tried macaque.
It lathered up nicely, thick, creamy, looked certainly promising.
The shave in itself was quite ok.
My skin had some irritation, not that serious as with B&M or Ariana & Evans, but unpleasant.

The scent.
I have read the descriptions. I cannot find the different components.
I asked her when stepping out of the shower what she thought of the scent. “A smell like some bathroom cleaning stuff?”

I disagree.
I think the scent is spot on.
Pretty close.

A scent which really reminded me of an ape house in a zoo.
Impressive.

Would I ever want to smell like that? Hell, no.

The other two samples mentioned above are very different, but all share the very same quality: never ever would I want to smell like that.

So, as someone who has never tried any Chiseled Face soap, which should I buy as a first time caller?
Slick or Zoologist? Performance wise first priority over fragrance.
