Eric and I were talking a week or so ago and one of the topics we discussed was a Mergress with a brass knob. Before we run off to the machine shop though to have the knobs made, we need to know if this is something that would interest Mergress lovers. Please let us know what you think.

The Digress is a beautiful razor:

I'm sure a brass mergress would fill the gap on the other side of the pond.

Thanks for sharing Mikey. We are thinking of doing a run to see how it goes. I think there is probably sufficient interest.

How much weight is added? I don't think brass would look good with my gold Progress but certainly intrigued.

I just spoke with Eric and we are now thinking bronze rather than brass.

Thanks. Mine weighs in at about 82g (with balance point quite close to the head).

Yeah, the centre of mass is probably about a third of the way down the handle on mine so definitely a shift in balance. It feels nice though but obviously that is down to personal preference. I've never used a progress to compare either though to be honest.

Brass is certainly in. This is a new all stainless steel razor with a brass knob that releases the top cap. I am expecting it any day.

People seem to like the idea . That's a $75 premium.

Phil:
I think you're on to something with the bronze. Slightly different look and color which would be a good thing for the "Bullgress" identity and a more durable material.

Bronze = yes. Brass = yes. Copper = yes indeeed!

I have brass and bronze watches and patina on brass is the most fun!

The bronze is a higher quality (regarding watches) versus brass.

My order of preference would be

  1. bronze
  2. copper
  3. brass
Thanks for considering offering this.

My brass knobbed Digress is still one of my favorite razors and of course, I'd be "obligated" to add another variation to join it, my Progress(es) and Mergress.  Phil, are ya'll thinking the knob would be sized like the Mergress or something larger?
