I read the same, re: different grades. Have to imagine grocery store grade is safe and it's labeled non-toxic.

I'll check into that more thoroughly, Ricardo but, titanium is highly corrosion resistant.  When  I received the razor, I briefly soaked it in a diluted solution of SG and thoroughly rinsed it with warm water.  My picture in the OP was taken after washing.  If I can't find a definitive answer (or enough contrary evidence), I'll play it safe and edit the OP with updated instructions, likely warm soapy water.

Andrew at Paradigm would know.  Perhaps the problem with the General was not the aluminum itself, but the anodized coating on it.  However, reading about that issue made me realize that one can't just assume Simple Green is safe.  Thanks for looking into this Billy.

Simple Green has potent surfactants in it.

Soapy water followed by rubbing alcohol will make the razor good as new and poses no threat whatsoever to titanium.

I had no issues using SG but will fall back to a conservative approach.  Still, I sent Andy a PM and asked him to share his experience.

P.S. If you go to the SG website, you'll see they have a wide variety of consumer and industrial products and instructions to clean dozens of materials.  But, I didn't find titanium, LOL.

Meanwhile, back to the shaves...

Today, I decided to go rogue with the variables and introduce two products (for me): Kai SS blade and Hawaiian Shaving Company Kaimu Lemon Lavender SS.  The Kai announced its presence right away.  Sharp.  I respectfully obliged.   But wow, what a shave!  Two passes and hardly any touch up.  New blade for Billy?  I want to try the Kai in a few more razors to compare but we may have a winner.  The HSC soap was just great.  Nice, thick lather and a fun blue-gray color due to its natural base ingredients.

One more shave with this beautiful razor and it's time to hit the road.   Undecided   Andy, you've done well, Sir!

For today's shave, I used a Gillette 7 O'Clock SharpEdge (Yellow) and the shave was awesome!  Though not quite as effective as the Kai, it was much smoother.  Also got a chance to use my newly acquired Mike's Orange, Cedarwood, & Black Pepper shave soap - my first Mike's soap.  Very nice!

Waiting to hear from the next in line for shipping instructions.  If I don't soon, I might just have to get in another shave.  Twist my arm!   Tongue

Billy, the Gillette Platinum is the only blade I use. Been using it about 3.5 years and have roughly 1,000+ shaves with it, as I found it within a month of using DE and it leaves me with nothing to desire from a blade. Glad you found it and enjoyed your first go with it.

The blade was a nice surprise, Matt!

OK, my kickoff is complete and what a kickoff it was!  Sweet razor!  I may need to switch the lineup as Ravi might not be available - I'll update the thread soon.

  • Haslinger Schafmilch Rasierseife SS (grated in tin)
  • Klar Kabinet SS (grated in tin)
  • LaToja Shave cream
  • Blade packs: (10) Gillette Bleue Extra, (5) Gillette Platinum, (5) Gillette 7 O'Clock SE, (10) Iridium Super, (5) Shark Super Chrome, 2x (5) Astra SP
  • Acqua Di Parma Colonia EdC (decant)
  • Guerlain Heritage EdP (almost gone, probably 15-20 sprays - I have more Smile)

People generally want to pay for a razor and not a fancy box. The razor will come with a box that protects the razor. Once it has done its job, most people put it under their sink anyway so, what is the point in making the box fancier than necessary?

For that price point presentation does matter. For most people, they would like to shave as well as show off their fancy razor.

The box will be comparable to the box that Wolfman uses for their Titanium razors. If you want a fancier box, I suggest you sit this one out as there are only 49 being produced this run. Custom boxes generally have a minimum run of at least 1500 boxes.

I would rather pay $395 for the razor with basic packaging, than something more than $395 for the same razor and presentation packaging.  The packaging is not important to me, and I would never pass on a quality product I wanted the because that packaging was not fancy.  If packaging is so important to you, it's your money and you can choose not to spend it for whatever reason you want.
