Would appreciate some recommendations on a good lime shaving / citrus soap and aftershave.

Thanks,

Kurt

For lime there's Sapone di Paolo Agrume or Soap Commander Respect. Both are excellent performers with Soap Commander being a nice tart Lime and Sapone di Paolo a slightly sweeter Lime with a nice Basil scent mixed in.

Fines L'Orange Noir aftershave splash is also very nice but would pair much better with Orange or Grapefruit than Lime.

So many good choices. Mystic water lime is a great lime scent and a nice lather.

Dr. Jon's Hydra is a mixed citrus scent that I love. It lathers nicely, too. There is a matching aftershave with a moderate menthol kick that I highly recommend.

+2 on the Castle Forbes. Maggard's Limes and Bergamot is quite nice and has a non-alcohol AS.

Stirling Grapefruit is good, and Volcans lavender-orange is mostly orange and an excellent soap but no AS.

Leaning toward cologne, TOBS Eton College is a fresh citrusy scent.

Cheers, Steve

Lime: CRSW limenthol
Citrus: CRSW citrus, Mike's lemongrass & eucalyptus, Mike's OC&BP, reef point Admirality, SdP arrancione (sweet orange)

Many of these have matching a/s and balms. My favorites are: SdP arrancione balm, and reef point Admirality a/s and balm.

I cannot help you with a good lime shaving soap; I have tried myself to find a satisfactory one (yes, yes, I have auditioned Castle Forbes, and no, no, it falls ’way short; and I have tried Mike’s — same verdict — and found Crabtreee & Evelyn more severely lacking.  There may be a good lime shaving soap out there . . . maybe.  Good luck finding it.

But as to aftershave, We Have a Winner.  Not a surprise:  it is the reigning champion, having attained that lofty status seven decades ago and maintained it to this day, and it  never has been seriously challenged; it is head and shoulders above the pack.   It Is THE One.  (Unfortunately, it is a bit pricey.)

St. Johns West Indian Lime.

There really is no other like it.  The (very) dominant scent is pure lime; one easily could think that there is naught but intense lime there.  But actually, the lime is supported and intensified by bay rum and vetiver.  One does not really smell the bay rum or the vetiver until one is told to seek it out, and then, yes, you will perceive hints of them there.   But it remains dominantly lime, the lime against which all others must be compared (and the others always will be found lacking).

I want to give Mike's a try. I use MW and while it's a great soap, the scent is more Lime Popsicle or Limeade than pure lime. Too sweet for me.
CF... Mad  not my olfactory sense's favorite.
I do enjoy the scent of vintage Old Spice Lime AS.  Thumbsup  That would be a great soap scent.

Nice write up. I would love to give this a try. I do enjoy my Dominica Lime Bay Rum, but I suspect the St. John's is a completely different creature.

How is Desmond's Barrow performance? It seemed like it was all the rage a few months ago and now I hardly hear about it.

Not lime but it's citrusy.

DRH Arlington is a great summer scent.

RR XXX is another winner. There are better soaps but XXX does perform nicely. The scent is a AdP clone.
