I just acquired both of these on EBay and wondering if there is a difference in Shave between the S3S and the SBS. Other than one being stainless and the other being brass, they seem to be identical other than the top cap sides of the SBS looking like the top cap sides of my Tradere.

Thanks, I am a collector and the only razor I have yet to acquire now is the BBS-1. I just can't bring myself to pay $1000 for it.

you shouldn't because to be honest a $10 zamac razor will take you from point A to point B same as 1K razor. That being said I do own few semi expensive ones my self: Rockwell 6S $80, Razorock SS Hawk $60, Razorock Wunderbar slant $130, Supply Provision 3 plates $75, Rockwell SS Model T ( waiting on it and knock on wood all will be well with the production)

Cool, I own a ton of high end razors and I just can't help myself. I did abstain from the $400 Paradigm Titanium razor.

Just sign up and get on Johns list, it's well worth the wait and a lot cheaper than $1000! It took me about 6-8 months to get it.

Just fill out the newsletter, I think that automatically signs you up. Also, favorite the razor on the site. I did this early last year so his process could have changed.

To answer the original question, I think the S3S shaves more like a Pils, and the SBS more like a Tradere.  There is definitely more blade feel on the SBS.  It's also a LOT heavier.  Almost too heavy, in my opinion.

Both are great razors.

Once you get them and get a chance to shave with them a few times, please come back and post your impressions and a comparison of them for us.

I had one of the iKon razors similar to the S3S (the H2o maybe?), which the only difference was that it was two-piece as opposed to three-piece.  I found it to be very mild, in fact too mild for me.

Yes, the H2O was very mild.  The SBS, on the other hand, is not mild at all. Certainly medium aggressive at the least.

Got my S3S yesterday and it's in pristine condition. No scratches on the topcap or anywhere else. I immediately changed out the handle for something longer and with a bit more heft. A bit of soapscum on the baseplate. What do people use to clean stainless steel razors these days?

Lots of choices.  I would start with dishwashing liquid and a microfiber cloth.  If that doesn't take it off, try a tiny bit of toothpaste on a very soft toothbrush.

Congrats, I was in the ebay auction too up until the last few bids which came out of nowhere.  I already have an S3S but i wanted to get another one just in case.  I agree with Kingfisher the SBS shaves like the Tradere OC (1st Gen even)  The SBS is more aggressive than the Traders SB.  My SBS is in black rhodium.  I want to get the original brass though.  But I feel that the  S3S (the OC side) shaves like a Gillette Big Fellow.  I don't use the SB side of the S3s.  Enjoy.

Just shaved with it this morning for the first time and I would say it shaves like my Pils and not like my Tradere OC. I found it somewhat mild with a brand new Voskhod blade. The soap I used was Stirling Port Au Prince and I did my standard routine which is Mickey Lee's preshave butter before and Dapper Dragon aftershave gel after. I did a 2 pass shave with the OC side first and the SB side 2nd. I used the same angle I use with my Pils and could barely feel the blade. Got a BBS which is always good but I do not feel as if this razor is aggressive on either side. I do like it a lot and thinking about sending it to Delta Echo to have it colored black. Just a thought. Any recommendations? I would love to see pics of the black rhodium.
