I read that Un Jour Gris was close in scent to Tom Ford Grey Vetiver. So I bought a tub.

To my nose, the GV isn't there. Anyone else have this outcome? And is there a soap that IS close to GV?

I had a tub of Un Jour Gris and to me it smelled like laundry detergent. Don't get me wrong it was a nice smelling laundry detergent but definitely not similar to GV and certainly not what I was expecting. I ended up trading it away.

As for a shave soap that truly smells like GV..... I would like to know as well.

The first tub of UJG I had (older formula) was a dead ringer for GV.  I sold that tub since the soap formula didn't really work for me.
The replacement tub (new 'cream soap' forumla) scent was a shadow of its former self.  Disappointing.  Sold it too.

Interesting, the tub I had was the older/softer soap not the newer cream soap.

Fine Clean Vetiver is based on Guerlian Vetiver, whilst Fine Fresh Vetiver is based on Tom Ford Grey Vetiver.

Catie's Bubbles UJG was a disappointment - not even close to TF Grey Vetiver.

My bad. For some reason I can never keep those straight.

And it's my favorite Fine Accoutrements aftershave, Fresh Vetiver that is, along with Lavender Pour Homme, which is their C&S Oxford & Cambridge. They do an excellent job of recreating the scents they target.

Totally agree, fresh vetiver a/s is smashing! D R Harris Windsor is also reasonably close.
