This was a mistake, or perhaps a happy accident. Dapper Dragon's Etsy listing was a bit jumbled and I thought I was ordering their Blood Orange tallow soap. Instead, I got Helios tallow soap and I'm so happy with it!
It's scent is wholly indescribable. Maybe some overtones of orange and a finishing note reminiscent of fennel. It lathers great, is slick and cushiony and nothing compares to the scent. I find myself reaching for it several times a week and would conservatively estimate having gone half way through the tub in about two months.
They really nailed this one.

I thought I was the only one who had that soap! When I feel like a citrus shave this is on my shortlist. I have also never found anyone else who makes an aftershave like his. It's like a gel and compliments the shave nicely.
Have you also considered trying Scylla? "Scylla is a fresh, aquatic scent. Water lily and sea salt mingle together over a background of lime and smokey oud."
Thanks for sharing Postman. Dapper Dragon is a forgotten brand.

Do you scoop the scale polish out like you would a pomade?
My Scale Polish is not as thick as a pomade. I scoop out a small amount, like half a pea sized amount and apply like I would any AS balm. I find it applies easier if my hands are damp.

I don't really like balms because I just don't need them. Most balms leave my face feeling like I need to wash face so it doesn't feel so oily, or greasy. I really like Scale Polish. It's great, non greasy, goes on easy and the scent is very light. I like this product so much that I'll probably order more scents.

Picked up a few samples recently myself, and I completely agree about Helios. I've had lots of citrus scents, but something about it really appeals to me! I think I may have to order it in a full tub, and possibly as a scale polish.
Scylla, on the other hand, has a bit of a "wet dog" scent to my nose. It's probably just my sniffer, but yuck.
I love Signature, with it's fruity melony barbershoppy blend. Terrific!
Picked up a scale polish sample in white chocolate orange. Sniffing the jar is nice, but just okay to me. A little too gourmand. But in using it I've found I quite like the lingering orange scent. The scale polish itself I like better than any balm I've had. My skin doesn't feel greasy using it, just nice.
