I got into this insanity of collecting DEs in 2007. After initially going for vintage Gillettes I found the slants (twisted head) and if it wasn't a slant I didn't want it. Then got into straight razors for years. Came back to the DEs with all of these great stainless models by Wolfman, Timeless, Blackbird and ATT.

So I like aggressive razors and hear that the Ikon Tech is the one to get, but I read somewhere that they don't make the aggressive one anymore. So is that correct ? Which Ikon Tech (stainless) do I need to look for to get the one everyone compares to a Muhle R-41 2011 ?

The iKon Tech head is aluminum made. It's one of the most aggressive razors I've used, probably the most aggressive DE. But, I'd say that it's smoother than other aggressive options, like the R41(2013) or the Futur@6. It's a nice razor and extremely efficient.

Thanks Nick, darn, I wish it was all stainless. Is it still in current production ?

I bought mine second hand, I don't see any stocked anywhere. To me it's far more aggressive than say a Futur because it maintains significant exposure at every angle. The Futur, and other razors with large blade gaps, are more easily managed by their lesser exposure. That said, the Tech does do a great job, just takes great care.

I recently contacted Greg.  More are in production.  Still available at a couple vendors, but I'm holding out for an SE handle if possible.

Found one online with the SE handle or select an OSS, or Bulldog. Now I have to decide if I really want another razor.

Not an iKon, but I heard the PAA DOC stainless steel is very aggressive. Don't think it's in stock though...

It is in stock and it is a great razor. I got one a few days ago. Bad to the bone ....... figuratively speaking ;-)

It is as aggressive as a 2011 Muhle R-41, but without the 'walking on eggs feeling. One that I will die with.

I didn't like my Tech with a heavy handle. Much better for me with matching aluminum.[Image: 5371b724b624940ae1a70c188b526b96.jpg]

I'd like to hear owners of a Wolfman .86mm gap and its' aggressiveness compared to the  '11 R41 and ikon tech.

While the .86 gap Wolfman is moderately aggressive, it is not even close to the aggressiveness of the '11 R41 or the TECH.

It's unusual positive exposure not blade gap that makes the Tech so aggressive. Compare blade gap to the Futur for an obvious comparison.

I found out that the Blackbird OC & SB are ..58 blade gap and they are wonderfully aggressive in my hand. I have .61 Wolfman OC & SB and lusted after a .74 after a friend of mine said he needed that gap at least. I finally got a DC .74 Wolfman and it is not 'better' for me than the .61, though it is also quite good. Say that to say, as noted above, there is more to it than blade gap.

Oh, didn't realise you already own one Wink. It's a very interesting razor, although I prefer mild ones.
