I have always always finished using all the blades in one box before moving on to the next. But, as I shaved this morning, I wondered if changing blades ever time I shaved would effect my shave any. For example,  I used Rapira Stainless Steel morning (first shave using the Rapira), and then changed my blade to a Feather blade next time I shaved.

So, my question is do you think shaving this way will have an effect on my shave or not?
Also, I am wondering if anyone has used this method of shaving.

I usually shave with a blade until it's no longer smooth.  I'll then swap it out for a new blade.  Some blades work better in different razors, but I found one that is very smooth and works for me in everything.  I get about 8-10 shaves per blade.

I pick a blade (just whichever one I feel like using), and then use it for the next four shaves.
Repeat ad infinitum.

I only use blades once, and usually go through a box at a time.  However, I sometimes have two or three boxes open at once and randomly use a different blade every day.  I have not noticed any benefit from alternating blade brands from one day to the next, but someone else may have a different experience.  If it works better for you, go for it.

When I first switched to TWS with DE the answer was obvious to an organized machine like myself. A new blade every Monday! Well, life is often not as logical as I am.
I purchased a Sample Pack and not all of them made the full seven days. I'm still testing and have settled on 5 shaves and then a new blade as the standard. As to brand, I have my favorite (Kai) but lately I'm doing a test rotating through the various Gillette products that I have available. Today was shave five on a 7 O'clock YELLOW and tomorrow I'll replace it with a 7 O'clock BLACK.

I jump around... I'll explain.
I will use a blade once then take it out of the head, dry it and gently place it on a felt pad in my shave cabinet. Next shave I might bust out another go to blade and then repeat the same for that blade. Then the next shave I take the first blade for shave number two.
It just depends on my mood. I'm a head shaver and usually only use blades twice anyway. So i will pretty much have two blades going at once, all the time.
If traveling I put three of my favorite blades in a tuck and carry a variety pack.

I change blades every 4-5 shaves or when the shaves are not smooth and I can feel a little pull or aggressiveness.
Or I just pull not another DE razor with a fresh blade during mid shave when the shave is not smooth anymore.

DE: 3-5 shaves unless I feel a tug sooner.  Varies a little bit by brand but that's an average range.
SE: Not a lot of experience under my belt but a couple (Kai Milds, Feather Pro) have lasted 6-8 shaves and probably could go more.

When using a DE I use a blade twice... when using a shavette, I use each half-blade twice (although this does equal more "square-faceage/blade-edge" than I get with a DE). I used to stick with each brand for a few shaves in a row...now I have generally come to stick with Derby Extra for the DE and GSB for the shavette.

I changes blades when I switch to the next razor in my rotation.. so once a week. I try to match the blades to the razor as well.

I change blades when it feels like they need changing.

I used to push a blade until it began to degrade, no matter how many shaves. Now I ordinarily do 2-3 shaves and toss it whether it has any life left or not. May as well be kind to myself since I've got hundreds of blades, and probably, @ 68 years, won't use them all before I shuffle off this mortal coil.

Depends on the razor, but usually after 4-5 uses or when I don't longer feel it's smooth. So far, Rockwell 6S provided most uses with all my blades.

Well, at first, when I was using modern blades and getting 3-4 shaves per blade on average I always finished one blade before using another but almost always went from model to different model. Since I went to vintage only I rarely use one blade all the way thru to failure before moving to another. My attention span won't make it. I load a few razors with different ones and switch back and forth anywhere from a few days to a week or more.

Every single time I shave.  Here is why:  I have cut myself more, on my hands, when I leave one in the razor.  Also, when I had small children, it was a necessity: small fingers must be protected.  Plus, it feels good, on my face, to always have a fresh one.  And, the cost is certainly justifiable:  a package of 100 blades usually costs between 15,00 - 25,00.  Another reason is "bragging rights" over those men who use cartridges.  One cartridge must be made to last, at least, a week, whereas I get a fresh one, each shave.

No set time for blade use for me...if I feel it's not cutting as I'd like it gets binned immediately. I don't keep track but if I had to guess I'd say probably and average of 3 shaves!?!

Usually ever 4-5 shaves. With some razors (notably Rockwell 6S) I can get around 10.
