This is probably the most misspelled word I have ever seen.

Wrong - Definately

Correct - Definitely

Honestly, I think this word gets misspelled because of accents. My parents (Cajun accent and NE Texas accent) say definately...so I guess I always learned to spell it phonetically. I still never get it right...

It's amzaing how the midn wokrs, if yuo acutlaly hvae all het lrettes fo a wdor, you cna sltil reda.

So I don't understand the absolute total disdain some folks, myself included, have when they see a misspelled word. I know it drives me right up a wall.

By the way Krissy, I love your handwriting video, very nice.

How can people misspell in posts? Most web browsers have spell checkers that highlight any spelling mistakes. Right-clicking on a highlighted word brings up the correct spelling.

Thank you Chris! It was something I threw together quickly to show just how I happen to write as a leftie. It's not right or wrong just how I was taught. I'm also very thankful that I was.

I have also seen ones spell it "defiantly". What bothers me even more than that is the incorrect use of you're and your, or, to and too.

Very often, though not always, it is just laziness on the part of the poster.

This is a huge irritation to me, as well. However, in all fairness, I'll look at something I have just posted and realize I just wrote "hear" when "here" is what I meant or "there" when "their" is meant. My mind was obviously somewhere else while typing. I go back and edit the post so that the spelling is correct but hate that I got it wrong to begin with. Blush

Spell checks are almost worthless. Try typing your last name. Spell check will say its wrong unless you have a very common name.

Spell check is not designed for last names any more than a dictionary is. However, many spell checks ask if you want them to remember a particular spelling so a last name could become part of its word list. That is something a dictionary cannot do.

I still find myself using a dictionary a lot of times as well as using a spell check program. Both have their places for me.

Don't depend on spell check. Good spelling comes from doing a lot of reading which these days hardly anybody does anymore. When you read a lot you begin to memorize the words.

Spelling is memorization

Tomorrow a new thread with some other goodies.

I'm an avid reader and read a lot! But I admit I'm still a bad speller. I always have been, and often make silly grammatical or spelling errors. Sad

only one error was made in the typing of this. That was the word grammatical.
