I am getting into the new Gem style razors. I have a question. What, besides price, is the difference between Gem PTFE coated blades and Personna Gem coated blades?

I'd like to know the differences too.

I see some advertised as GEM PTFE coated - others GEM Stainless - and I see the GEM Blue Star.

I have several dispensers that came as 'GEM by Personna super stainless steel' and they are in a 10-pack gray dispenser

I've used them with an older GEM 1912 and they did fine.  I have a new Rocnel on the way now and I will probably pick up some of the coated blades and some blue stars to compare

My understanding based on my research and personal use is that they are one and the same. Unfortunately, I have yet to see this verified by Personna and that allows the confusion to persist. I believe they allow that confusion to encourage shavers to use the more expensive blades in smaller packs rather than purchase the same blade packaged for scientific use at a lower price. Again, I cannot verify that and would welcome any hard evidence. I've spent a lot of time trying to sort out the GEM blades and the lack of solid information is frustrating.

There are two versions... coated and uncoated. Personna makes them but they are sold under a few different brands. Do yourself a favor and get the coated version. The uncoated are best reserved for a paint scraper.

The Blue Star blades are carbon steel if I recall correctly. I hated them but, YMMV

Phil I realize the coated are better. I think what I am trying to ascertain is if the blades you are selling in the 100 blade packs are the same quality as the blades you are selling in the 10 blade packs.

Blue Stars have a lot of fans. Smooth and Sharp while they last, which is not long, but they're cheap.

PTFE is Teflon which I assume helps glide

I'm curious about GEMs but not sure my skin can handle a GEM blade, looking forward to more reviews about GEM before I jump on that train

All GEM/Personna/American Safety Razor Company blades are designed, and, sold, for industrial use.  The shaving ones are repackaged.  The different blades are different, somehow, but, they are all used, for industrial applications.  This means they are super sharp.  Please, use extra care while shaving with these blades.
