I’m not that good at describing the characteristics of a knot but I would compare the feel of it to my Thater Funf 2 band knot. I would also put it just below my various Elite Razor 2 band Manchurian knots and Saponificio Varesino 2 band Manchurian knot.

Has anybody used the B4 knots? Any comments or comparisons to the B2/3?

Yes. Similar to b2 in softness with a little more backbone. Softer than the b3. May be my favorite knot

Steven,

If I may ask, what is the material of that handle? It's stunning!

Amboyna Burl, when I saw this handle it knocked my socks off. Bob did a wonderful job in creating tthis handle

How do you compare the B4 knot to Bob’s 2 band Manchurian knot? I own a Declaration brush with a B3 knot in it and at least 6 different brushes with Elite Manchurian 2 band knots and I think the Elite knots are just a tad better than my B3. Just got back a Markus Herber brush that I had Bob put a 26mm Manchurian knot in. I am thinking about sending a C&R handle that I got to Scott at Declaration to put a B4 knot in but the cost is just under double what I get my Elite knots for. I know Scott ties his knots by hand but is the B4 that much different than the B3?

Hello, I can't tell you about any difference between the B-3 to B-4, I do not have a B-3 knot. The B-4 has very good medium backbone with excellent firm density with soft tips in many ways very close to the B-1 or more backbone and density then the B-2. Bobs knots are very different you will be able to tell the difference almost immediately. I also have some of Bob's knots at different sizes and lofts. The one with the most backbone is a 24 that comes out to be a 26 at a loft of 50 which is medium soft backbone with beautiful soft tips, Bob's knots are not as dense as the Declaration knot. But to put things into perspective Bob's knot are more dense then Thaters and Shavemac's except for the DO1. All this is just my opinion.

I think the b4 hair is one of the best 2 hairs on the market currently. I find it far superior to B3 knots I have personally.

Lurker here. I was able to score these two guys numerous weeks ago, but have been unable to try them due to being away from home. My wonderful wife finally got around to sending me photos. I love Scott's work, but the B3 hair in my older nebula brush was not exactly what I was expecting in terms of softness. By comparison, I would say that I enjoy using any of my Paladin Brushes much more than my B3 Declaration Brush. I am ecstatic to get home so I can try the B4 hair, especially after reading all the reviews. At any rate, shamelessly showing off my loot. Hope to post more in the future.[Image: Ci2i8Eu.jpg][Image: YGtCPyf.jpg]
