Gillette Stainless blades...

[attachment=5293]

[attachment=5294]

[attachment=5295]

I received a free pack of these recently and they are almost as good as my favourite blade, the Super Iridium.

They are sharp and smooth. Comfortable and effective. And long lasting.

BUT... WHERE CAN I FIND THEM?

Has anyone else had experience with these blades and most importantly does anyone know where they can be purchased?

I'm down to my last one and I'm desperate for more!

I have never seen this Gillette blade. And your assessment that it is almost as good as the Super Iridium is high praise indeed. Are there any markings on the box or sleeve to indicate where it was manufactured? Could it be a NOS blade:

SI, Polsilver and the Pol SI are really the only DE blades I use now, so yes I rate these Gillette Stainless highly...

The reverse:

Perhaps it is packaged and branded especially for the Australian market?

Ben could these be the same blade as the Gillette Silver Blue? The box is very similar just blue instead of red and the say Silver Blue instead of Stainless. They are both stainless blades.

I honestly don't know. I'm waiting to hear back from the gentleman that kindly gifted them to me, but he is without the internet this weekend...

This is very interesting indeed. I know that PPI changes its packaging and distribution channels occasionally, as they did with the Super Iridiums which were changed to distribution through Poland and widely thought (in the US) to have been discontinued. The SIs are now awailable at BullGoose styled as Polsilver Super Iridium Blades. See http://www.bullgooseshaving.net/posuirblfof1.html

Could we possibly be seeing a variation on this theme? Or perhaps a changed packaging and renaming of an existing product?

Let's hope that Phil at BullGoose weighs in on this.

Wow, Ben, that is high praise comparing them to the Super Iridiums. Let us know if you find them.

Travis, the "Blue" (as suggested by you) is the closest I can find on the net. Has anyone any experience with them?

I have experience with the Silver Blues and they are excellent blades. Based on what you like Ben, I think you would enjoy these as well.

Sharp and smooth, the best comparison to me would be the Polsilver's in the brown box.

Now, there is a blade in the EXACT same packaging as the Silver Blues called Gillette Platinum. These are harder to come by than the Silver Blues though still available here in the States.

I have a package but have not tried them yet. I've read that they are superior to the Silver Blues. This leads me to wonder what comparison I will draw with other Gillette blades, if any, after shaving with them.

I think that we are really splitting hairs at this point!
I'd love to find out what the red packs you have equate to....if anything!

Gents please take a look at: Test #28 Gillette Stainless

http://shavenook.com/thread-de-blade-challenge-ii

They are made for a specific market according to the source that I received mine from. More than likely they are the same as the Silver Blue for other markets.

Just ordered 100 of the "Silver Blue" from the Double Edge Shaving Place...

Hopefully I'll have more information regarding the "Stainless" in the red packs soon.

The red Gillette blades "Gillette Stainless" are - if I remember correctly - locally available in Slovakia, Czech Republic and/or Poland. Made in Russia by PPI. Never tried one of these. Should be comparable to the "Astra Superior Stainless" I may assume. But I had other Gillette branded blades like the "Gillette Platinum", "Gillette Super Silver" and others, which are really outstanding blades! Though kind of expensive....

Well, it's the Gillette license and made in St Petersburg, what's not to like about that? Has anyone had a bad blade when those "stars" were aligned? I haven't. 100% top notch blades. My notes in my blade tests for similar blades almost mirror each other.

Let us know how you like the Blues.
