We finally started shipping out our newest razor design from Above the Tie. The G1 razor uses "Gem" type blades which are thicker and longer lasting than the more common DE blades. It provides an altogether different shaving experience. I know I'm biased, but I think it looks great. These photos are of the final product. Check them out at;

Beautiful razor, Stan.  I hope it sells well for you.  It looks quite a bit different from how it looked in the prototype stage, or is that mostly my imagination?   The serrations on the top cap look deeper and more defined; the circular lather holes look to be positioned somewhat differently?

You have a good eye. In this photo the G1 is fitted with a Kronos handle. The prototype images showed an Atlas handle. The cap is smaller and the scallops line up with the holes. Also the cap is smaller the rataining posts are larger and blade hook is more robust.

That looks fantastic! The only reason I have not ordered one is because I am not wanting to invest in other types of blades and I NEED the new copper razor you have coming.

Looks fantastic, Stan! I got your email, and can't wait to get my G1 head, which I'll be pairing with a Kronos handle.

Looks great! I've tried the Rocnel and the Blackbird, I'm curious to see how this one performs!

Hello Guys,

I know you have heard of someone over thinking and tweaking to much ("New Coke" back in the day could be an exapmle) not letting a good thing be. That would be me with this project. Sorry for super mild plate. I will fix right away and offer an exchange. You can hold on to your razor and receive the new plate or return and purchase again later. Either decision is OK with me. Don't sweat the 30 day Grace period. We will make this right.

The razor came Yesterday, and I'm really disappointed, I appreciate this detail, Stan, you're a gentleman, it's a gesture that honours you.

Thanks, friend.

The G1 replacement plate being made today. More aggressive than the original. I have consulted with Alex a "Gem" type razor aficionado from New York to use the plate a few times to offer objective feedback. Replacement Plates will be ready soon.
