We recently learned that one of our own here on The Shave Nook and personal friend of ours has a close family member who was diagnosed with MPN/MDS overlap syndrome and will be undergoing transplant surgery.

The medical expenses have taxed the family and in an effort to help defray their current and upcoming medical expenses, CRSW has created a special shave soap and will be selling it on our website with proceeds going directly to the family.
We will have a Limited Edition of 120 “Jeff’s Soap” available for sale on our website, Cold River Soap Works - Jeff’s Soap

All proceeds from sales of this soap will go directly to the family.
This is a Limited Edition run of 120 shaving soaps. It is our hope that you will help us to help them in their time of need.

More information to follow in this thread…

Thank you!
Audrey and Larry

As Larry posted above, one of my family has been hit with a devastating disease that is taking its toll on financial resources.

My girlfriend’s brother-in-law Jeff was diagnosed with a rare form of bone marrow cancer in December of last year (MPN/MDS overlap syndrome).  Jeff is a husband and father of two boys, we have been close friends for 6 years and we are “family” in every sense of the word.

Jeff has been going through chemo treatments since the beginning of March in the hope that it would reduce the number of blast and decrease the platelets, however it has not helped, and his blast are increasing and his platelets are not being kept under control.

They have consulted with 3 specialists and all agree on one thing - his only chance of a cure is for a bone marrow (stem cell) transplant. Things have quickly progressed and at this point there is no time to spare. They are having a hard time controlling his platelet count and he is currently showing 15% blast in his bone marrow, at 20% he will be diagnosed with acute leukemia, so the doctors want to stop it before it gets to that point.

They left yesterday to go to Duke University Hospital to prepare for the transplant.  We are hopeful that with this transplant he will recover.

As a family, we really appreciate your support, and thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Here's some pictures of us recently at the beach and some from today at Duke University.

A quick comment...

By doing this we are just making a small contribution to a big cause. The real generosity is you guys, or at least the folks that have purchased this soap and/or made a donation on GoFund Me!

Thank you!

His spirits are up but he feels pretty rough.

This final round of chemo is the strongest he has had to endure.

Again thank you all who have shown support!

Ordered and prayers for Jeff.

Should be interesting - only used creams with exception of 1 time trying a soap sample.

This will likely be a turning point in your shaving life.  I used to use creams, too, but once I tried a good shave soap I never went back to creams.
