Nothing magical or any big secrets about my lathering.
I'll either bowl lather or face lather based on what I feel like doing. Soaps or creams either one, either way. It gets shiny, i never gave it any thought.

I have experiemented with several lather techniques over the years. These days, I load heavy on the soap puck then take it right to the face for lathering. I find mugs, bowls, and scuttles redundent now. More steps to do, more to clean up after the shave. I am a minimalist, so puck to face works beautifully for me. To each their own of course!

Since I am in "retirement " I have plenty of time, and because of my condition  I  have very few options on how to spend that time. Hence the often as not bowl lather approach.  John here summed it up quite succinctly for me when he compared it to the Tea Ceremony of the far east. Anything that extends the time I  spend at this I welcome wholeheartedly. The reason, or reasons,  I don't always bowl lather is that I enjoy  face lathering  too and again, my condition.  I get great, shiny lather too but I  never reasoned out how.
