This Musgo Real Lavender shaving cream is one of the new Musgo Real scent offerings (5 in total, plus the Classic Musgo Real) and its that : the Classic Musgo Real with a different scent.

And when I say that its like the Classic Musgo Real,I mean that for "the good" and "the bad".

Lets check its ingredients first :

So we can read that it contains lanolin, jojoba oil and no SLS.The Lavanda shaving cream (the new one) contains SLS,as you can see here (pic courtesy of The Portugal Online shop) :

[Image: AchBrito_Lavanda-Shaving-Cream-creme-bar...00x800.jpg]

So we basically have two different shaving creams when we talk about making lather with them.

This cream has a very thick texture, but not as thick as some of the "croaps" out there :

Many people have problems lathering Musgo Real shaving cream, and this is not different than the Classic version,so here are some of the tricks you can use,to get a good lather out of it :

1.Use more product. We dont want to be the richest of the cementery or being buried with our shaving gear,so use product! At least ,an almond size of cream or even a little bit more.

Here is a pic with the Plisson HMW 12 3 band brush.Hope you can see I have used more than an almond size of cream :

2.Use less water to start. This is a cream which doesnt like too much water. Its doesnt matter if your water if soft or hard (mine is hard) : simply doesnt like it.So shake the brush well of all the excess of water and start building up the lather, adding drops when you feel its necessary.

This is how its gonna look like after 30 seconds building up the lather :

an after a minute, and like 10 drops more of water :

and this is the final result , a thick and dense lather :

So follow those advices,be patience bulding up the lather, and there you go.

The skin care is one of the best ones out there, specially for very dry skin like mine, but thats nothing new to me,since I have been a fan of the Musgo Real Classic cream for a long time now.

So,whats different?Well, only the scent,Im afraid, which is also not the traditional lavender scent.Dont expect a strong lavender scent like the Castle Forbes,Weleda or Art of Shaving shaving creams, but more of a subtle, clean and fresh herbal scent. In some ways is similar to the Truefitt and Hill lavender scent, but not as strong either. Its a good scent,I like it,since Im a lavender fan,so its all good with me.

Overall,a good, decent, shaving cream, which will provide you a good skin care if you properly use it.Well done for the Ach Brito guys and VIVA PORTUGAL!

Great review Teiste and good tips for creating great lather. I've never had issue with the classic MR shave cream and I'm looking forward to trying the new varieties...

I hate to hear it is the same formula with just the scent added. As much as I like Musgo Real products, I cannot use their cream. Irritates my face something awful.

Johnny... It is possible that it is the fragrance oil that sets your face on fire. The new scents use different fragrance oils so just maybe they will not bother you. I cannot use any of the classic scent musgo products. The bath soap caused a rash

Same here Phil, no cream, no bath soap. But I love the after shave lotion and balm.

This is the very same formula used in the Musgo Real cream... and the very same formula used in one of the versions of Lavanda, the good one, so it's got to be good stuff!

Thanks T for the great review! Got myself samples of all 5 new flavors, I didn't like the original scent all that much but performance is excellent!

Great post Teiste!

The original scent also sets my face on fire too. I'm looking forward to giving this a go in the near future.

Great pictures my friend. I see this Musgo Lavender contains menthol as well. Is it cooling at all, or is it just there for perhaps the scent like the original Musgo cream?
