They are both great performers but if I had to choose, I'd say Tabac gets the nod.  My two favorite sticks.

La Toja is also very good. However, your favourite soap grated or transferred into an empty shave-stick container would work just as well.  Shy

How could I forget!  Fantastic and legendary soap, though I'd still put Tabac right along side it, along with its brother Irisch Moos.

Tabac, Tabac, Tabac! But La Toja is a real alternative. Speick is a distant player IMHO!

Tabac is my longest running soap, got my first puck from my paternal grandfather 41+ years ago and counting.  My alternative recommendation is the Blue-collar Palmolive, I really like that medicinal soap scent.

Neither? I always travel with a Palmolive stick. Sometimes other products in addition, but the Palmolive is a permanent item in my bag.

I much prefer Valobra to any other stick (or puck for that matter), but to answer the original question: I much prefer Speick performance and scent over Tabac.
Palmolive has the best scent (clean, green), but it irritates my skin upon further review so I can't personally recommend it unfortunately.
I wish Valobra performance would combine with Palmolive scent and I would giddily PIF half of my den.

Slightly OT but have you tried the Palmolive cream? The scent is very close to the stick, and the tube is 100mL so it is travel-safe.

And if you lose it, it only cost 50p.

Once you realize this, it really opens up the possibilities. Plus, it's cheaper to buy a puck or bar, vs. a stick (price per ounce).

Every stick I've tried has been great performance-wise. It all comes down to convenience when traveling. I use DR Harris because of it's great packaging and ease of use. If a stick doesn't come that way (DR Harris way) I grate it down and use as a puck.

Although this thread reminded me of my recent samples delivery from shavedash, including the much talked about valobra. Perhaps tonight...
