I've been using organic moisturizing bars made by a local lady who sells at our Farmer's Market.

I am curious though, if you face lather with a brush, is there really a reason to clean the areas on your face that you plan to shave before you shave as well? I started focusing a bit less on the products when I realized I am face lathering normally for about 2-3min and giving plenty of water anyways.

Zack, I agree with you. A simple, cold water wash with Dove soap and then 5 minutes face lathering gets my to-be-shaved areas ready for the blade.

boy I don't have that much patience.  probably 2 minutes face lathering is all I get.  think I will try 5 minutes and see.

I use whatever kind of glycerin based soap I can easily get my hands on. My wife bought me several boxes of Pears Transparent soap from the Dollar Store, but I prefer Neutragena. In addition to preshave face washing. I can actually shave with it when the mood hits me.

+1 on the pure glycerin soap.

I prefer the unscented 365 brand. depending on the shave soap, I will leave the glycerin soap suds on my face and create an uber lather on my face or wash the glycerin suds off and proceed to lather with a clean, soft, moist, and well nourished whiskers.

Another addition....IDC Pearl facewash. My new favorite.
