Hi, I haveused this razor for the past 2 weeks. I also got cuts etc until I discovered I was not ensuring the blade was seated straight. Since then, the smoothest most comfortable shave. Almost impossible to cut yourself. Def you do not have the blade in properly.

I made sure that the blade was seated straight, as I do with all my other razors. The chap that sells these razors, in the US, made some claims about the Focus razor on his website:

1) Amazingly combines mild and efficient to produce closeness without irritation; Well, I had so many nicks and cuts with this razor that irritation was the least of my worries. Also, this razor has the unique ability to remove skin and leave beard follicles intact.

2) You don't have to think very much to use this razor. Ok.

3) Those who use pivoting cartridges like the Mach 3 won't find it too terribly jarring; Ok.

To be clear, I only have an issue with the statements that this vendor has made about this razor and not the vendor's business itself because I made the decision to buy this razor purely on the statements the vendor made.

Gillette Fatboy and Slim. Both were NOS when I acquired them. Used each a couple of times and those shaves where probably the worst shaves in my wet-shaving experience. Now they just stay in their boxes in the depth of my hardware storage cabinet...

I have an N4 black handle Super Speed (my birth year and quarter) that, for some reason, is as aggressive as the Red Tip that I sold.  Too aggressive for my taste.  I will keep it, but I won't use it again.

I have no words LOL.

I love both of those razors.  And to have NOS?  Wow.  Just wow.

Most of my Gems fit this category. There are only two I use any longer, and even then, only once every other month or so. If that much.

Fatboy. Just didn't get along with it. Maybe it was the one I had. Compared to my other vintage Gillettes it was just rough
Tried it on every setting and it just wouldn't cooperate.

Fatboy is one of my favorites.  Goes to show that YMMV is real.

This is how I felt about the Super Adjustable 85. I’ve owned two of them, yet never got a good, smooth shave from either one. Wound up selling one and PIFfing the other. It’s a very sexy looking razor, and I would love to have one in my den, but if I can’t make a razor work I get rid of it.

After deciding that the Focus Dynamic razor is my go to razor for now,I'm going through my cache of razors and blades.
I had forgotten about this one.
The quality of this razor is so bad that I chose not to shave with it.
As you can see I haven't even taken off the blue protective covering on the doors.
I might give it a try when I'm feeling more adventurous.

Why is the handle crooked on this razor? Was it damaged?

I generally agree with the thought of selling on any razors that I don't want to use.  If I don't like it, it seems pointless to keep.

That said, I have three Schick injectors including a Type E from about the period of the Second World War that belonged to my grandfather.  I tried using the Type E, but it was a bloodbath, and it won't be used again.  But I couldn't bring myself to sell them.

It's a slant!
If it were mine I'd test it's aerodynamic qualities...

Feather AS-D2 and, believe it or not ...... a Pils. Just too mild for my taste. Not that I haven't tried both with various blades. I do admire the design of the Pils, it is a beautiful razor, but as my grandma used to say, "Handsome is, as handsome does." Why do I keep them ? I have to overcome the inertia to finally take the photos and sell or trade them. I can say that about many items, shave related and not that I have laying around here. I'm pushing 70 so if I don't get off my duff soon they may go at the estate sale !  Tongue

Not sure if it is broken or not. It has a tremendous amount of flex.

I have a Merkur Futur with the classic uneven blade exposure. They should outsource tgeir manufacturering to India or China.

My Durham razors. Got a couple blades from tryablade and gave them a go. Terrible! They now hang on the walls in my shave den for decoration.

Someone from China must have read your post because an exact replica of the Futur is being manufactured there and sold on fleabay and elsewhere. ?

I'm guessing the post was a bit tongue-in-cheek and that the Galhatz already knew that clones were being made and sold.  For some people they seem to work even better than the Futur.
