This was the one scent I tried from getting a sample that I just could not bare. I know it's supposed to be a knock off Sun Up (which I have never tried before) but it just smelled really old and plain to me. I think I'm just so used to pretty much all B&M scents being very complex and diverse but this one just did not speak to me. Hope you enjoy it though! The performance is something you won't have any doubt about.

This scent has grown on me. It's definitely not a spectacular scent but I find it pleasant and if you're just using the soap then you don't need to worry about the scent lingering all day.

This is true. I wish I could enjoy the scent because I know it is supposed to be a 'Classic', just for some reason doesn't do it for me. I still have the sample that I'll probably PIF down the road.

Nathan,
It is lighter than previous to mixing, and is still one consistent color (no different colors/layers). I also have kept the lid off for 20 hours on two occasions, the air doesn't seem to be affecting the color/darkness.

Just so you can see zoom-in colors before and after mixing.

I think I'm rrady to give an artisan another go but could someone tell me specifically what each collection of the "Reserves" are based on? Which is Floid Blue, which is Old Spice, etc. Im pretty sure I know,  would just be wise to get some comfirmation before I order.

Glad to see it's staying one color. I think I'll give mine a mix as well. Thanks for the photo!

To each his own.
It puzzles me that given the plethora of excellent soaps available on the market, Artisan and Commercial, that some continue to clamor for and rationalize the merits of some soaps as if they are unique and spectacular. I say, BS.
I subscribe to the philosophy of 'keep it simple stupid' ie KISS.

Not sure anyone said they're unique except for the fact it's an artisan soap that has tallow and no lanolin... which, unfortunately IMO, is actually unique... as mundane as that sounds, it is not mundane.
As for spectacular, if one doesn't try a product (and, with an open mind), then how could he form an opinion about it.
I haven't been a fan WHATSOEVER of previous B&M formulas (even those without lanolin, like Latha and Tre Citta). I call it like I see it.
Reserve blows those out of the water. And they utilize proven, inoffensive scent profiles.
I don't understand what the KISS (terrible rock band btw) statement is directed toward... so I can't answer that part. What is not simple?

If one has to ponder, contemplate and rationalize a soap that looks and smells weird, that's odd.
Hype, in my opinion.

I thought that pondering, contemplating and rationalizing was the entire premise of this forum!

I have used first hand a variety of something close to 200 creams, soft soaps, firm soaps, milled soaps for shaving. The are all different in colors, textures, containers, scents, and in the end, the end product will vary in many characteristics.

There are many that I can think of that have a darker color than white and contains a component possible of oxidizing and turning color. Is that the ultimate sin of a soap maker? Really, a soap can't be made and formulated to contain an ingredient in the base or something in the fragrance that naturally contributes an influencing color?

If so, I should tell myself that a soap like Razorock Mudder Focker (fuller earth clay and spices in perfume) and Mickey Lee Soap Works Drunken Goat (Guinness Stout Beer) are not to be used in a shave because they simply do not look pleasant to the personal taste of my eye. A couple of my pucks of Mike's Natural Soap, they are visually the color orange and yellow. Somehow, I still used them without serious consultation or fear. They worked wonderful.

I have bigger issues if there is a soap that takes up space to put a colorant or brightener such as titanium dioxide and opacify the soap. Leave that out and add a natural preservative, maybe a vegetable base such as a grape(seed) derivative. That is in my opinion, a better "type" of ingredient to focus on rather than the complete control over the end product color.

Nathan, are you planning on trying the Lavender or Fern scent when it comes out? I am not a fan of creams but look forward to trying this formula because it is apparently very thirsty.

Cheers all,

Z

That's bc Fern and Lavender are not yet released in full size but the other three scents have already been released for a couple months or more.

Additionally, the other three scents are available for purchase currently, so no need to wait for a release date to purchase.

Perhaps I'll try the Fern.  I haven't been very taken with Lavender scents save C&S Oxford & Cambridge

But I  can't find them on the site. Im sure its due tohaving to use my phone instead of my laptop to search ( no power, no wifi) and my own lack of any tech savvy.
