The birch is in stock and I decided against it when the total came to almost $150 delivered. Just not worth it in the long run. For that I can get a cap and plate from Charcoal Goods. It is pretty though.

Yeah I thought they were less than $100 last year.

They look very nice. Sharp design.

I had mine pre-order at $90 +-.  I guess as they figured out their production process the prices went up.  Too bad, honestly, because at $90 for SS it could've been a real bargain.

Yeah, $100 would have been perfect!

Just double checked Muhleusa.com and the R95 Birch Bark is listed at $122.50. Add shipping and taxes and they have priced it out of my range for this razor. That is too bad too.

Thank you.

I just ordered the birch. Had my eye on that for a long time. Hopefully I'll have it by Wednesday next week.

[Image: 5WPWY5x.jpg]First shave today. It’s a bit top heavy but very nice; a help, not a hindrance.
Used a Voskhod blade. Very nice and smooth. Comparing to other Muhle razors in terms of aggression, the R89 being 1 and the R41 being 10, I would put the Rocca about 3.5-4. More aggressive than the R89 but far from the R41, IMHO.

Thanks for the report.  Nice to see these in the wild finally.

Matt-  please share some pics of your birch model when it comes in.

The handle is nice and grippy. I still don't know how to explain the electroplating. It's a great design. I think the hollow handle makes for a great balance. I will try it again Sunday with another brand of blade.

The USA Muhle website has 8 Black Rocca's in stock.  I love the idea of a solid stainless steel head from them.  Looking for more reviews before I purchase.

Thanks for the heads up. Just ordered another one (sold first one 6 months ago) which was dump on my part. A really great shaver. Out of all the Muhles I have tried this is by far the best. The only down side is I had to pay sales tax as Muhle USA is located in Florida.

I have had the birchbark model for about 1.5 months now and really like it. It will stay in my rotation.

Thanks, made by a local potter.

First shave went very well, yesterday.

Pros- The head seems a major improvement over the R89, in comfort and efficiency.
The weight and tactile feel of the birch handle is very comfortable (and familiar like an old friend).

Con- The length of the handle is a little longer than my default preference (but not "deal-breaker" level).

All in all, I hope to replicate the success of my first shave.
