(We all know the most popular GEM blade is the PTFE by Personna.)

What are your thoughts about the OTHER GEM blades?
Please be specific about which blade you're talking about. Maker/brand and metal type.

I use Gem Blue Stars (carbon). I don't find them long lasting but do find them sharp and smooth.

One down, two to go.

I used the GEM carbon steel for today's shave. Or I should say: I started with it.

Felt fine on the cheeks, but as soon as I got to the chin and mustache on pass one, it felt like I was dragging steel wool along my skin. Terrible. I suppose it felt more like a pulling feeling than a scratching feeling.

Anyway. I put the GEM razor down and picked up my Blackbird that was loaded with a Gillette Platinum... phew. Saved myself from what could have been a real bad one.

Which GEM carbon steel? Personna makes carbon shaving blades (Blue Star) and not so good for shaving but good for paint scraping carbon blades. Personally I don't buy generic / drug store blades after many stories of scraping blades being put in the shaving section. Maybe over cautious but Blue Stars have been good for me.

Not sure, it's a sample from Try A Blade, so I don't have actual packaging. It says GEM on the spine. I assume it's Personna.

Well yes, all Gem blades are made by Personna. I presume Tryablade would be selling only the proper carbon blade, I can't tell anything from their photo.
