I just heard from my distributor that the Feather MR3 razor has been discontinued by Feather.  I have not heard if Feather has a planned replacement. Just an FYI

Does that include the cartridges as well, Phil?
Too bad. I have been intrigued by this razor but have not gotten around to it.

I believe Feather has another cartridge that will work with these razors but, I need to investigate. In the meantime, I cleared out the distributor. I was only able to get 5 pack refills rather than 9 pack refills

I also have neglected to try these Feather cartridges.
I know it's YMMV and all...but which is better?  The FII or MR3?  Anecdotally.

Discontinued or just making Connaught the exclusive reseller?

I've used Bullgoose-supplied Feather  MR3 and FII cartridges for a the past year, mostly for a final touch-up pass but also for the occasional quickie shave.  I really like them.

As for the MR3 v. FII question I really can't detect a difference.  I like both and would be satisfied with only the FII if it continues to be available.

FWIW I have found the Feather cartridges far superior to my recent experience with a Gillette Trac 3.  Better shave and never any post-shave issues with the Feather system.

YMMV

I prefer the FII personally.
Shame; I hope they release something new/better.

Even more so than the United States, Japan is a country of cartridge razor users.  Feather is a bit player in cartridge razors (no better, and possibly worse, than fourth place in sales), but it would be important to have a flagship cartridge razor always in the Feather line-up to keep the brand in the public eye.  Feather's chief competitor, KAI, is not a player in the DE razor market, while Feather offers the high-end AS-D2 stainless and the entry-level Popular DE razors.  Feather needs to keep a quality cartridge razor in its product line-up to provide a same-brand upgrade path to its DE razors.

In Japan, currently there are several variants of the MR3 neo, but all use the Feather F-System cartridges, which include FII and MR3 cartridges, both of which fit on the current MR3 neo handle.  I think that it is likely that the MR3 neo we know and love will be replaced by a newer razor packaged with a 3-blade F-System cartridge and that will be able to accept FII cartridges as the MR3 neo can.

I agree...it will be interesting to see how things develop.

Huh?

A few months back Connaught stopped shipping Feather items to the US. In researching that, I came across information that they (Connaught) were exclusive distributers for Europe. In looking at their site now, they will only ship Feather items in the UK. So, it's anybody's guess what's happening now. Who knows, maybe The Donald ticked them off too.

I think it is only FHS blades that Connaught won't ship to the US and that is due to the Oneblade monopoly.

Phil, isn’t Connaught also restricting sale of Feather double edge blades to within the UK? That’s what I think I’m seeing at their website.

Unfortunately, it is any Feather product you put in the basket. Blades or razors make no difference. They are all rejected if the country is not listed as UK. Even their buds in Canada can't get them. I guess its back to the Mach 3 if they don't replace it with something else.

At Feathers request we only sell to the UK. Feather are confident of their distribution arrangements & that products are available world-wide. Feather do not & never have advised RRP's or min pricing so may be products are available but for higher prices in some countries. Jatai are the exclusive agent for NA but customers in other countries can contact Feather directly for details of their local vendors: overseas@feather.co.jp
