I saw recently a drop on Masssrop, so I guess they're still in business.

They are in business. I had the same question and e-mailed Connaught. Paul is getting some new stock next week, sadly the new El-Jefe will have to wait until summer 2017.

Quick pic from that link..... Don't know if it is stainless, aluminum or that hybrid material that was used on the El Jefe.

If it’s as good as th original , it’s a seriously aggressive razor with a lot of blade gap. Original construction was superb.

What would you compare its aggressiveness to?

Some of the old ikon razors were very unique in that the blade gap was that of a futur turned way up. I wouldn’t say it’s more efficient than a 12’ R41 but it’s in that realm and a unique feel being a stainless razor with a hefty weight. This is what the old ones were and the new razors are very much different in my opinion than these I describe. Will this one be different , perhaps but if it’s what the original was I certainly would like to have another opportunity to own one. Occasionally some of the old prototypes as well as early models show up on bst they are worth a look if you can get one for a reasonable price.

Thanks for the info and the photo.  Whatever it is, it clearly is NOT exactly the same as the SBS; the styling on the side is definitely different.  There are other, more subtle differences that I can see just by looking at that photo; it appears to me as if both the SB side and the OC side are somewhat different from the original.  I know there were suspicions that the Tradere and the SBS shared so much in common that perhaps iKon used the same program for the CNC milling.  This one definitely did NOT.

Therefore, extrapolations about aggressiveness, etc., are likely nothing more than mere guesses at this point.

I have one of the original SBS razors in brass.  I also had one of the original Tradere SB razors.  The brass SBS, for me, is a very good razor.  Having said that, I feel that flipping the baseplate did not really offer much, if anything at all, of a difference in the shave.  The gap is already large enough that increasing it by tenths of a millimeter was, at least for me, not detectable.  The SB side of the razor does shave a lot like the SB Tradere, although I feel that the SBS is more aggressive and probably more likely to irritate, as well.  Whether this is solely because of its increased weight, or whether there are other factors at play, I don't know.

I have always felt that the original brass SBS could have been greatly improved by NOT having a flippable/reversible baseplate.  That would have allowed for some of the weight to be removed.  I believe I would enjoy the razor more if it were lighter.  (So there is hope for this new razor, if it is made of a lighter material.)  At one point in time I actually e-mailed James at Wolfman razors to see if he could debulk the baseplate (removing its reversible nature) for me, but ultimately I decided it would probably not be worth the effort/expense.

It will be interesting to hear more about this obviously new iteration of the SBS as time goes by.  The photo shows that he is still going with the reversible baseplate.  My main questions are:  What will it be made of?  How will the shave differ from that of the brass SBS?  Will flipping the baseplate actually accomplish something?  How much will it cost?  All-in-all, a very intriguing teaser.

I saw it on facebook and figured it was a mistake.  But when I clicked on it and got redirected to his site, and they were for sale for $30 I had to jump on it.

I got one, too. Ridiculously cheap, especially considering that the original SBS was well north of $200.

Again, obviously this one is different. Likely the aluminum that he uses for the 101. That will definitely make it lighter, which, in my opinion will be a positive.  I shaved with the original this morning. Nice shaver, but a bit awkward because of the size/weight.
