Le Pere Lucien makes one of the better shaving soaps available.   What is your favorite LPL soap?  You can list or discuss more than one in your post, but you can only vote for one. If you only have one, then that's the one you vote for.

I'll start by stating that my two favorites are Apricot and Oud-Santal.  They're so different that it's hard to make one choice.  However, I can only vote for one so it's Oud-Santal.

I've tried 4-5 LPL soaps and my favorite scent has to be the Cypres- Boise. It's a LE made for Yourshaving, a spanish vendor. Wonderful scent. My second choice would be the Rose de Pushkar.

Nick, I would characterize the Apricot as being on the mild side of moderate strength, and the Oud-Santal as being moderate strength.  You'll detect both scents throughout the shave, but the Apricot will not linger after the shave, while the Oud-Santal will softly linger after the shave.  The Apricot, although more subtle than the Oud-Santal, will still make its presence known.

I own three Le Père Lucien soaps:

Traditional is my favorite—it has, for me, the best lathering performance and a great scent. Rose de Pushkar has a magnificent scent, but I have some difficulty lathering it and the container is too small. I’ve used OUD-Santal only a couple of times so far, but I like its performance and scent a lot.

I have two LPL tubs; oud-santal and unscented. No question about it. I've a definite preference for O-S; scent, texture, latherability, post-shave. Might pick up the Apricot next order...

I think I might need to try LPL again.  I have a tin of the original and was never impressed by it.  But, it's been a long while since I last tried it out.  I'll give it another go.

Nathan, there's a world of difference in performance between the vegan and tallow formulas.

Good to know!  I wasn't impressed with the vegan formula.

I purchased a 2nd tin so I do agree with you, this soap is right up there with all the attributes we look for in a soap and again with a very pleasing scent. Enjoy and shave well my friend

Nice coincidence that this was posted....
I was going to ask for advice/opinions on the LPL Oud-Santal.
I love the scent, but I can't get it to lather right for me. I have no problems with WSP, CRSW, or ABC. This LPL creates what reminds me of bubbles when you over fill the washing machine. It dissipates quickly too. I've tried a very dry brush and the load it like you hate it technique, but no joy.
Suggestions? I'd love to keep it if I can get the performance.

Load it heavier is generally good advice. Add water slowly. I work my lather for a few minutes, and find it helps a lot. Don't give up on this soap. It's a real treat.
