The Cadet finally arrived and all that I can say is that I am blow away on all counts; Price, Fit, Finish, and Shave.

Cadet Open Comb Mounted to the handle of the Cadet SS-26

At first glance from the web the head appeared to be much like a the FaTip, but in person you really notice the variance. It is unique to itself is all that I can say, if I had to place it somewhere, it shaves somewhere between a FaTip and an Old Type 102 Head.

Is this head worth the $12.00 that it retails for? No it is not. It is worth double that, at least. I really should not say that as Joe may increase his price....or there may be a mad rush on these heads. If that happened, good, I hope that he sells every last one of them, and hopefully to BOTOC members in good standing. They are that good of a head.

The fit and finish is better than my FaTip, and not be a little, by a lot. The chrome finish is very heavily applied, much better than any Merkur that I own and almost as good as my Edwin Jagger.

This very well may become my "go to razor" it shaves that good.

But for those of you that do not want to buy razors from India, you may want to rethink your thinking. Joe put some serious thought into these heads as he himself is a wet shaver.

The Cadet Open Comb is on the Left, the FaTip is on the right.

Although it is advertised to only fit on the Cadet Handles, it fit my Edwin Jagger, Mühle, and iKon handles with no problem.

Looks like these are legit. I've read a few reviews from satisfied users.

It seems that these have succeeded where Parker failed.

It is hard to go wrong for $12 USD Cool

I think you would like it, as it shaves right between an Old Type and FaTip. I would say from a 1-10 on the aggressive scale it is about a 7.5

I own 3 of the Cadet; a TP-01 Open Comb, TP-27 with an EJ style head, and a TTO-11. They are all great razors. The quality for me is not quite as good as my EJ DE89, but as good as the Merkur's I've had and better than the Parkers and even my beloved Lord L6. The OC was the best of the bunch IMO, followed closely by the TP-27 EJ style. The TTO while providing a great shave, feels a little tinny and light on the head, not quite as durable as other TTO's I have had. However, it provides a great shave with the heavy handle. I also ordered one more OC so I could use the handle on my L6.

IMO, these are really good razors and the best bang for the buck of all of the new DE offerings. There are razors out there that are more expensive and may look better, but for a good quality piece that shaves great, all 3 are permanently in my rotation. Here are some photos for your viewing pleasure:

Great reviews and wonderful pictures of some really excellent above average razors. I have the TP01 (box says SS0-1) and it shaves as good as the Fatip or any other OC. Fit and finish is wonderful.

I wanted to pair the Cadet Open Comb Head to the Edwin Jagger Handle so everyone could see how well the finish is. If EJ was to purchase this Open Comb from the OEM supplier and did nothing more than mount it to an existing handle, everyone would be ranting over the latest must have EJ razor.

Funny how perception can be.

The shave this morning was excellent!!!

Beautiful combination. Probably EJ would make the head like the Merkur or Muhle and ruin it.

Great review and subsequent posts/photos. I'm going to pick one up - using the OC head with one of my other handles looks like a great way to go.

Great review!
I just got me EJ89 this weekend and shaved with it this morning
It was very smooth, but not as aggressive as a like

Does this open comb head make it more aggressive?

Hey Elliot,

By putting a new head on your EJ89 in essence you have a new razor.

The Cadet shaves nothing like the EJ89, it is far more aggressive, not R41 aggressive, but you know that it is not an EJ that is for sure.

Usually new razors do not interest me. The Cadets, have tweaked my interest.

Great review thanks for sharing pictures and impressions.

The Cadet oc head is more aggressive then the EJ head. It gives a excellent close and smooth shave. IMHO

Thanks for the write-up! I may have to pick up an open comb head.
I have a weber bulldog handle that is single right now and needs a mate.

Has anyone paired the head with a Weber bulldog handle?
One would think that it would work but I ask b/c there are instances (namely Fatip heads come to mind) where certain handles just won't fit on certain razor heads.

Its not an Edwin Jagger its a Cadet OC which is sold by shaveabuck. A Cadet head was paired with an EJ handle.
