I have a Gillette New LC that I'd like to get either yellow gold, or maybe rhodium. Who can recommend a good vendor for doing this?

Depends where you live. Are you in New Zealand?

Razor Emporium - one of TSN's vendors - offer a replating / rewamping service, and the feedback seems to range from excellent to great

Razor Emporium did a great job on my New Improved (had it redone in Rhodium).

I've been very happy with what Chris Evatt of RazorPlate does.  I have replates from Razor Emporium and also from Chris and while the Razor Emporium job is nice the ones from Chris are superb.

I've had replates done by RazorPlate and Razor Emporium. If I ever need another replate done I'd first contact Chris at RazorPlate. He does top notch work, had quicker turnaround and is a real gentleman. Not a knock on Razor Emporium's work, but I felt more comfortable communicating with Chris.

USA - Arizona. Which apparently is where RazorEmporium (the forum sponsor Wegian linked to) is from.

Yes, both do. If yours needs fixing and a good clean, Chris from RazorPlate partners with another Chris (aka Captain Murphy) who does a great job cleaning (disassemble and everything) and fixing vintage Gillettes. Also, he is particularly fond of Fatboys.

I'v used Razor Emporium a few times and they've done excellent work on both two of my father's razors and one of gramps. But for my gold WWII era Aristocrat I'm considering RazorPlate. The Emporium's prices have gone up and I hear nothing but excellent reviews about, Chris is it? Anyways, Razorplate.

I worked with Chris at razorplate and his Tag team partner of the other Chris mentioned above  for several razors to disassemble, repair if necessary and replate.   Outside of being complete gentleman, Each of them has an approach to customer service which is a standard I wish all companies and individuals would adhere to.

Regardless of how long you have to wait to get back your razor due to the demand placed on their services  the quality is there and they will stand behind their work.

I have no experience with other vendors and worked with the Chris and Chris team only based on the extremely high volume of compliments about their services across different forums and never once read a complaint about either of them.

I obtained a Deluxe 1936 Gillette Aristocrat gold tone open comb, one-piece razor and tried it out. I liked it so much that I thought of having it replated in its original gold. I contacted Chris at Razorplate, who I had used before. He explained that these razors often have issues with the underlying brass and mechanical issues such that he insists on plating the pieces of the razor after complete disassembly; he recommended that I send the razor first to Cap (the other Chris) for disassembly; Cap will send it on to Razorplate for plating; who will return it to Cap for re-assembly and Cap will return it to the customer. I was really impressed by that advice and attention to detail. Only trouble now is that Cap is relocating; evidently he is a U.S. Service member and had to be stationed elsewhere. He is suspending his operations until May this year.  I will wait until May, no problem. To unleash these guys' expertise on an 81 year old razor is worth the wait.
