Looking for advice on a pepper mill.  A fast pepper mill, something that will put some serious pepper on a salad or meat for the grill.

Prefer a crank style but output is more important.  I don't mind if it twists or cranks hard if the pepper is flying out.

Any other pepper lovers here?  Appreciate any tips.

My family goes through black pepper like water.  We have 2 Unicorn mills, absolutely love them.

In my experience IKEA of all places have decent peppermills - twist style, not crank. Check out 365+ IHÄRDIG.

+1  The Unicorn Magnum mills aren't the most stylish but they have a wide range of adjustment and better through-put than others I've tried.  I use a lot of black peppercorns, have them in the Unicorn and use a nicer looking Peugeot for white pepper, which isn't used as often.

+3 for the Magnum mills.  I've had mine for over a decade and it's still going strong despite being occasionally used in a professional kitchen.

Chroma ProCute.
Comes with a crank and you can use it for more than just pepper, if you like.

I might splurge and get 'em all to test.  I'm sure the kids would like the runner ups.  A good pepper mill is a high priority!

Appreciate the replies gentlemen.

Edit:  Just ordered and looking forward to trying a Unicorn Mangnum...

We use Turkish coffee mills. Plenty of hopper space, serious output, and a crank. If one wants to crank once for the week it has a hopper below that catches the freshly ground pepper. I've used them for decades and have never regretted buying them. They'll easily last us the rest of our lives.

This is very similar to what I bought all those years ago. https://www.amazon.com/Pepper-Mill-Impor...offee+mill

Glad you like it.  Word of wisdom, watch your hand placement.  I was peppering some scrambled eggs for a group of ten last weekend, and my hand got too high and I opened the loading ring.  Whole peppercorn scrambled eggs for everyone.     Cheers

Read about that quirk with the loading ring.  We've been practising tonight.  Smile    oh yea!

We use a Bisetti clear acrylic twist pepper mill.  It works like a charm.  Bought it in a backstreet of Venice a few years ago along with a matching salt mill.  Aesthetically and functionally they are top notch.

If there is a Penzey's Spices in your area, their peppercorns are excellent as are their peppermills.

No store locally but of course they have a website.  Interesting stuff!  Thank you for the tip.

Just loaded my new Unicorn Magnum with Penzey's peppercorns last night and it worked great!  Glad to see the tips on here because our old pepper mill was terrible.  Cooked some delicious chili last night and it had plenty of ground pepper in it!
