Opinions on scent, skin care, lather etc. mean so much less from guys who got a new soap yesterday and decided to write it off forever. Live with it a few (dozen) more shaves then write a review or post that video. Not to discourage first impressions, but give products a chance before tossing them aside!

Excellent observation! I always dislike those posts where people throw around terms like “game changer” when they themselves have used a soap maybe twice. Seems quite a bit premature if you ask me.

I Like the tin of Mike's I bought.  Lemongrass and Eucalyptus I think.  Very unique and quite good.  I am unsure If I would buy it again though.  There are SO MANY tallow and lanolin formulations out there and I actually prefer vegan/vegetarian recipes without the lanolin.  I found the bar soap stuck to my skin a bit as well.  I think it was the extra glycerin.

Just read this on Mike’s site:

Well, darn.  I certainly understand, but I do like coated metal tins.

Thumbup Thumbup Thumbup Thumbup

I never liked tins so I bought some 6oz jars off a third party site and moved my Mike's (and WSP and Blades Grim). When I bought my second Mike's order I just got the bar, and pressed it into a plastic jar. Glad to know my third order it won't be necessary.

I had his Vetiver.  The soap itself was excellent; I just don't like the smell of Vetiver.  I need to order another puck.  How does his Bay Rum compare to Captain's Choice or Barrister and Mann, scent-wise?

It’s a pretty standard Bay Rum. It’s exactly what I expected when I got it.

Just received HL in the new polypropylene tub. Kind of striking to see that label on a white plastic jar instead of the classic tin.

These are the same that Wholly Kaw uses. I liked the look of the tins, but they did rust and dent.

Rob, I prefer the new plastic tubs to the tins.  The plastic tubs are more practical than the tins, which did rust and dent.

That does look really weird! Probably for the best though. Although I’ve never had one of his tins rust on me before.

+1

However, I do realize why Mike implemented the change.

I wonder who makes those plastic tubs.  I know 100mm double wall ones from Parkway Plastics are very popular.

For those that have received the new tubs, are the labels the same that were being used on the tins?
