It seems the majority of razor makers are concentrating on producing razors that wield the gem and artist club blades.
Which of these blades do you prefer? Have you tried the Schick Proline blade, how does it compare to gem ptfe blade?

Is one of these blades sharper, smoother? Which blade retains its edge for more shaves?

I find them to shave fairly similarly. For longevity I give the nod to GEM, but do keep in mind that they get smoother after the first couple shaves (or palm strop them). For blade options AC wins. For maneuverability I give the edge to the GEM because it only about the width of a DE. Both are great blades Smile.

Still curious for everyone’s thoughts on the gem ptfe vs AC blades. Is the proline blade better than the gem ptfe?

I agree with Shane that they are similar.  The Proline is a really nice blade, but the GEM PTFE is also pretty smooth and sharp.  In general I like GEM-style razors better than AC razors, but that's just me.

I feel the A/C blades are much sharper than the GEM blades. In fact I sold all of my GEM razors and mostly use the A/C type now. You can get a decent shave with a GEM but it is not nearly as smooth as the Artist Club type blade.

GEM SS PTFE and Schick Proline are the only blades I use. I find these two blades to be about the same also. Pick your platform, they're both the best.

I pretty much settled on the ATT SE1/SE2, El Jefe, Mr SE, MMOC, MMCP, and a 1912 that's a little more efficient than the MMOC.
