I have both... your question is a dead end. They are both phenomenal lavenders imo. Very clean natural lavender, not perfume scented at all. I am quite smitten with Savon #1

I prefer CRSW over Mike's in nearly all cases. It performs better.

How would you describe each scent?

I enjoy the CRSW over Mikes. The scent is more complex and I find the performance to be better both during and post shave.

Mike's is thicker, more cushion.. CRSW is slicker with better post shave. In my experience, CRSW is a 8.5 out of 10, Mike's is a 8.

I prefer the performance of Mike's, but I prefer the scent of CRSW Savon #1.  I am not trying to imply that CRSW is lacking in performance, we all know it is excellent, I just prefer Mike's.

A vote for the Mike's here. Hungarian Lavender is just so earthy and the lather is super thick and creamy.

Another vote for Mike's.  Been awhile since I have tried Savon #1, but Mike's is still in my Den!

I find them both excellent.  Their performance is comparable, and I give a slight edge to Mike's on scent.  CRSW is a more complex scent, while Mike's seems simpler, earthier and more natural.

So True! There really is no wrong choice here. Both highly recommended top tier artisans.

I agree Ed. And this is true of many “this” vs “that” posts. Many of these artisans have really nailed their products. There is no superior product.

I've smelled Mike's before, would you say Savon is similar, or "fresher"?

Another vote for CRSW. I have both CRSW and Mikes in my top 5 soaps but the performance of CRSW is definitely much better. CRSW is thicker, creamier, slicker and has a better post shave face feeling.

As for the scents of each I also prefer CRSW over Mikes. CRSW is richer and much more complex while Mikes is a single note of lavender. As far as a straight lavender soap, Mikes is fantastic but the Savon No.1 is a beautifully crafted scent.

Curious, what are your thoughts on the Savon No.1 scent?

I just finished off a tub of Mikes. Excellent soap.

CRSW is an awesome soap as well. Definitely a top performer.

As far as scent , here's my take.

Mikes is a pure lavender scent. Slightly earthy.

CRSW Savon is a stronger herbal lavender. Think MdC original.

I do like the performance of the CRSW Select Premium by a fair bit over Mikes. You cant really go wrong with either though IMO and the scents are different enough you can buy both!
