Mods please remove or move to correct place - I am pretty sure this is allowed.

My 13 yr old daughter Hannah chose “The Saponification of Fats& Oils” as her 6 month Long project for her 8th Grade Physical Science class. Since she knows that I love shaving, she chose to focus her project specifically on making shaving soaps.

NOTE - I am the one who adds the lye water or lye milk (for her goat milk version and donkey milk version) and does the stirring until trace occurs (the School discourages students from doing any process that involves a more serious chemical reaction and for them to get adult assistance)

She has to have 3 variable, at least 2 processes and she is encouraged to have 3-5 test cases.

She did a ton or reasearch and landed on the infamous B&B Shaving Soap recipe as her baseline formula.

So far she has made:

1) Base recipe w/ glycerin + lanolin + sweet almond oil

2) Base recipe w/ glycerin (with goats milk as 100% of lye liquid instead of H2O) + lanolin + sweet almond oil

3) updated base with dual lye liquid w/ tallow added & glycerin (with fresh donkey milk as 100% of the lye liquid instead of H2O *from a donkey farm, not just some local farm with a donkey Smile lol *) + lanolin + castor oil + sweet almond oil + avocado oil + mango butter + sodium lactate + Menthol

4) will be a cold process donkey milk recipe

*** all soaps have been PH tested using strips to confirm alkalinity below 9 (most at 7-9) and none of the soaps have produced burns or any irritation on my face. They have produced really, really nice Shaves though! Smile my daughter might be a little genius!

She needs 4 testers (I am number 5) that would be willing for us to ship you 4-5 samples (roughly 4oz each sample) and to use for 2 Shaves per sample (8-10 Shaves) and fill out a small questionnaire she needs to collect data for her project. We will email that to the 4 folks who commit to testing.

We will pay to ship you the samples. All we ask if that if you agree to do it, we need the feedback back to us by November 30th.

Shipments would go out next week for the hot process soaps and a final soap would ship to you the last week of November for the cold process one after curing.

Let me know if you are interested!

Yes sir - send me your address please.

I still could probably do a few more testers - probably can support 2 more.

Thanks,

Jason

So far it’s been a blast and she (and I) have learned a lot about the sensitivities in making soap. She already has a ton of notes!

Very nice.  I made Wine in High School Chemistry - actually not a formal science project but was fun.

Just shaved with v4 - the Tallow base with water as her base liquid (no animal milks).  She is impressing me with each recipe ....

This is after 3 passes below ...
