Great, thanks for helping her!!!

Samples came in yesterday. I will start testing on Monday. I will only be using one brush as to limit any variables. I am thinking my Paladin Chief in Select "L".

I was thinking initially that I'd use two very similar knots, but last night I used the same Chubby as the previous night. I guess tonight I'll switch. The first two shaves with sample 1 I used a Red Tip and Med Prep. Perhaps this evening I'll switch to my black oxide Evolution and another Med Prep. Maybe that will be my unchanging variable - all Med Prep shaves.

Shave number two this morning.  This time I took a small piece of the soap and flattened it onto the bottom of my lather bowl with a drop of two of water prior to my shower, then lathered it up afterwards right out of the bowl, rather than trying to load directly from the soap.  It was clear that I was able to get a lot more soap into the lather using this method.

Switching to sample 2 tomorrow morning.  Sample 2 is huge, so I may be more successful loading directly off the soap than I was with sample 1.  Or, I  may decide to smush a small sample into my lather bowl like I did this morning.

good chance you will find that samples 2-7 can handle being lathered directly off of and they don’t require a whole lot of water — at least that’s my experience with Georgia water and my Declaration Theodore.

I am enjoying following this thread.  I'd have liked to have been a tester for her but was on the road when the event started and did not find it until you had already started.  She has some good guys gathered up though and as stated I'm really enjoying watching this unfold.  If you want a lady test subject my bride would be up to the task.

I used sample number 2 this morning.

I am really interested to hear the ultimate outcome of this experiment.  Having been on wet-shaving forums for 8 and a half years now, my best guess is that it will be really hard to find a consistent favorite.  Maybe people will pretty much agree on which soap they like the least, but I think it will be hard to reach a consensus on which soap they like the most.

If I had been running this experiment, I would have made sure that at least two of the soaps were exactly the same except for the scent.  Maybe make the unscented one exactly the same as one of the scented ones. Maybe she did this; I don't know.  But I think it would be interesting to see whether scent alone would color the user's experiences.  Would they say the scented soap made a better lather?

Got my samples monday evening.  I used formula 1 for 2 days and then 2.  Formula 1 was really nice.  I am filling out the form going along so I don't forget.

Finished with sample 2.   I liked the performance of sample 1 better and I didn't like the scent of sample 2(honey, sweet scent).

Let’s keep specific performance comments until everyone has had at least 10 - 14 days to test each soap at least once.

You can make general comments like - “So far out of the x number of soaps I have tested there is one that is really great, or all so far have really not impressed too much ...” but let’s try to stay away from calling out the day of testing and which soap version being tested until at least 10 - 14 days.

This way it doesn’t start influencing anyone unnecessarily.

Thanks again for testing!

Yes OK.  Sorry about that.  You are right.  I don't want to bias anyone.

No worries, you can give positive or negative general feedback - just nothing specific until the majority of testers are complete.

Well, I’ve finished 2 shaves each with samples 1and 2 and have a definite preference for one of them. After completing 2 shaves each with the next three samples perhaps then I’ll be able to make some observational comments.

Lemme aks you sum’n, Jason. Would Hanna mind if I take a day’s break and use one of my usual soaps? I’m jonesing for some oud-santal.
