Good evening, TSN Smile I hope this finds you well. This is my first attempt at a pass-around, and I look forward to the community’s participation.

I enjoy both my Evolution razors, black and brass, and have been consistently getting the best shaves of my life with them. Close, smooth and free of irritation. When Phil was looking for testers of the more aggressive base plate, I was fortunate to be selected as a tester of a brass T plate. T is for Turbo, btw. So anyway, with all the interest in larger, heftier handled, more aggressive razors these days, I thought there may be some interest in a brass Evolution XL 2 plate tour.

I’d like to open this up to a dozen interested, currently active members in good standing with at least 150 quality posts. If your post count is shy of that purely arbitrary number, become more active so we get to know you better Wink. If interest soars, we can consider extending the tour.

I’m borrowing the following guidelines from Billy who borrowed them from Michael. Both gents have initiated other successful pass-arounds:

1. Duration: Please limit your time with the gear to 7 days. This should be enough time for some quality shaves and impressions. There will be exceptions, and if you know ahead of time your schedule will be limited (e.g., vacation, job constraints, travel) please let me know so we can adjust the order and keep the momentum going. Please use both base plates for at least two shaves each, for comparative purposes.

2. Package Contents: A brass Evolution XL razor PLUS the new T style (more aggressive) baseplate and a variety of DE blades. Each member is invited to use up to 3 blades (or use you own as you wish), so there should be plenty to go around.

3. Be Clean: I will ship the razor clean and sterilized. Please do the same before handing it off to the next member. Soapy hot water soak, Barbicide and Scrubby Bubbles are fine. Please do NOT use boiling water or bleach on the razor as it could cause irreversible damage.

4. Package and Insure like a Pro: I will carefully wrap and ship the package via USPS Priority Mail and insure it for $300. If Priority Mail is a hardship, please switch to a clean, generic box and pack securely. Regardless of how you ship, please get a tracking number. The razor, extra plate and blades are valued at ~ $300, so there is an expectation that each participant agrees to insure the package for a minimum of $300 in order to replace the razor should something go awry.

5. Communicate: Please post in this tour thread when you receive the razor and when it ships. Upon receipt, please contact the next person on the list in order to have his shipping information on-hand when your time with the razor is over. Please PM me as needed or if you have questions. I’m sure it’ll be a major drag to track you down if you are in possession of the razor and have "gone off the grid".

6. Post Reviews: Please share your impressions in this thread, positive or not, with your fellow TSN members.

7. HAVE FUN and...go Shave Nook!

This one hadn't gotten on my radar before. I was just reading up on it at the BullGoose site, and I sure like what I see.
It's a very attractive implement, and I can't wait to see how it works for me.

Before sending the razor on its way to Ricardo, I’m going to my visit my local jeweler one afternoon this week and ask him to etch a “T” into the bottom of the plate for easy identification. Then off to the barber for a Barbasol soak.

Edit: no jeweler etching needed. I simply put a little scratch on the bottom of the T plate to differentiate between the two. Nothing major, just easy identification. Now to clean it thoroughly, then a Barbasol soak, and to the p.o. we go! I’ll post here when it goes out. Put a nice selection of blades together to go with it...

First shave is in.  I used both plates, one for each side of my face.  I'll do two more shaves, for a total of three, then get the razor out to the next person.  I'll post all my comments at once after the three shaves.

Nice!

Shawn, you'll be a great addition to the tour.  This is a nice opportunity to try this razor.
