They keep adding scents to their creams, but the soap scents have not been expanded from the original sandalwood, lavender, lemon and unscented.  Apparently the creams are selling better.

How do you lather their cream?

Almond size in a lather bowl?

I dip the tip of the brush in the cream, then I face lather.

Almond size in bowl should work, or as Ricardo suggests. I do more than "dip"--I swirl a bit, but I am a heavy loader by habit and preference.  Good stuff.

I checked out the new scents this weekend.  I initially thought the vetiver/citron would be my favorite, but the neroli was my favorite.   I asked if there were new shaving soaps to match, fully expecting the answer to be "no" ....and it was.

How do you compare the Bergamot & Neroli vs the Ocean Kelp?

Oh man, those are some good sounding new scents!  I guess my wife will "get" Shake Shack this weekend so I can go visit AoS next door!

Can't say I'm planning to buy, considering that I have yet to finish the AoS Sandalwood cream from Thanksgiving 2013 (I fell into SAD really bad). But I love sampling!

$50 for a tub is, IMO, exorbitant.

The website shows $25-30 for shave cream tubs depending on scent. Where do you see $50?

I'm seeing $25-27 except for Ocean Kelp and Oud which are $30.

That Bergamot Neroli looks promising!

Cheers, Steve

I didn’t do a side by side on Saturday when I was there, but the new neroli was different than what I can recall about ocean kelp. I think there are some common scent components in the two. It was a very quick sniff of each just to check them out, and to get first impressions. Sorry I can’t be more descriptive.

Wow.  They've broadened considerably.  Bergamot and neroli sounds nice.  I don't really use creams, though, and the price is pretty high.  I'll pass on these.

Almond size in a lather bowl?

Two years ago, I received a tub of the Ocean Kelp (smells like a nice fresh citrus scent to me) as a Christmas gift; I am still in the first quarter of its useful life.

My technique is to soak the brush to very wet and then shake it out; using a popsicle stick, I dig a single divot of about 1/4" into the cream; then I use the wet tips of the brush completely to clean off all of the cream from the popsicle stick and face lather from there.  (No new water ever touches the surface of the cream in the tub.)

Works for me.

Although I have long enjoyed AoS software, both soaps (working on a stash of old tallow) and creams, I haven't been in a stockist since they were on a shelf at the cigar store circa 2008 ..

For those who have been into their shops, do they provide small samples?  I don't trust that others scent impressions will coincide with my own, and already have in hand their Lavender, Lemon, Oud and recently used up the Ocean Kelp, so I don't want to send away for a tub without at least a sniff
