Just uses my Parker Variant on setting 3 and got the best head shave of my life. It was very smooth and comfortable and super efficient. Loved it. Very happy with the Variant so far. Does anyone else have any experience with the Variant?

Definitely a favorite of mine.  I use mine for travel mostly.  It's a great value given build quality, performance and price.

I have the Variant since the beginning of last summer and love it. It's a smooth efficient DE. I use it on 4.5 and occasionally on full blast when I fell adventurous.
Never fails to deliver and the setting is spot on, unlike the progress. I have both versions.

Haven't tried mine above three yet. I will have to get courageous and give it a shot

Just had a first shave with this razor and I'd like to NOT replicate.

After, I realized the cap was on the wrong way (since this is the only razor I have where it apparently matters, I didn't think of it until after). I'll be sure to get it right next time and hopefully that shave is nothing like the one I just had.

So, if you intend on checking this one out, make sure you pay attention to the cap.

interesting, I always sort of thought the "put the cap on the right way" was a bit of a CYA thing...never really knew that it could have much of an effect on the shave.  Good to know.  Report back after your next...

When all else fails, read instructions .. especially #2  Biggrin

Agreed, that's a great rule to live by. I just usually don't read while in the middle of shaving

I thought it seemed aggressive (ha) during the shave, but wasn't till I evaluated the damage after the shave that I realized I had forgotten about that.

I had it set to 3, which was probably more like what 7-8 would be.

I would not have read the instructions either so don't feel bad  Biggrin  so let us know how it shaves with the cap on correctly ...i'm sure you'll have better results

I know! ;D

Will do.
I expect much better results, judging by the reviews. (But then again... ya never know.)

This thread made reach for the Variant that I hadn't used for some time. I just had completely forgotten how good a shave this razor provides. Smooth and efficient throughout its adjustability range. Just a well made razor that for under $60 rivals other DE's in performance and looks costing 2-3 times as much and more. Yes, the head is made of zamak and chrome plated with a knurled brass handle, it's not ss, titanium or brass but if taken care of properly it can last one's lifetime, potentially. Nonetheless, it gives a great shave.....
