I have only tried the Cobra Classic and the aluminum General, so I'm kind of a newbie.  I have a brass General in my den now, but no blades, so I haven't tried it yet.

Between the Cobra Classic and the aluminum General, I preferred the General.  I am hoping the brass General will be awesome.  I ordered some Proline blades from bullgoose (he carries these now!), so I hope to try the brass General soon.

I enjoy the aluminum General. I like that I can zip around without having to worry about nicking/biting and I enjoy the comfortable, "bowling pin" handle.

No favorite.

They're all too aggressive for me to use regularly. I do like them. For different reasons. Sometimes I'm in the mood to shave with one or the other.

I do think if I needed to pick just one it would be the ATT SE1.

I have tried them all and I'd go with the aluminum General too. It's very comfortable, gives a great shave, and I really like the look of it.

The alignment on my generals seem the same as on my SE. Fortunately,I have had no issues with nicks with either brass or SS general, or my SE1. For whatever reason, the General just seems to work slightly better for me in terms of smoothness / lack of irritation.

The El Jefe and Mr SE are great and were my favorites before the SE1 came along. My aluminum General was sold in favor of the El Jefe.

Besides the weight, is the shave performance the same between the aluminum and stainless steel SE1?

Rabidus,

I haven't received the aluminum SE1 yet.  I'll let you know when I take it for a spin, which should be any day now.

I have:

Cobra Classic
Mongoose (B2)
Aluminum General (poonjaji)
Asylum RX (Thank you Roy Otto Yor!)

The Cobra Classic was my first safety razor and is still my favorite.  It gives me the best shave of any razor I have.  The only problem I have with it is that I feel someday the mechanism that holds the blade will break so I am looking for an alternative so I would not recommend this to someone as their only razor.

Of the others I like that I can use a Feather Pro in the Mongoose for a fast and easy DFS or a Pro Super in the Mongoose for a BBS shave but it can bite.  I just purchased another Batch 2 Mongoose since the lady took my original and I am not sure if it is the razor, my technique or a bad blade but it tore up my face with the Pro Super.

I have 3 shaves with the Asylum RX and I really am liking it and it may be the heir to the Cobra Classic for me.

The General is a great razor, I could live with this razor for life but I cannot use Pro Supers in it without tearing up my face.  I am using a heavier handle on it so maybe I can try a lighter handle and a Pro Super to check again?

It's a close-run thing between my ATT aluminum Calypso SE1 and the SE2 Colossus. If Stan would only make a Colossus-size handle in aluminum, that might just break the tie.

I got a brass General. However, I like the aluminum version better. Go figure.

What's the difference besides the weight?

I don't know.  The aluminum one just feels more comfortable and more intuitive.  Maybe the weight is all the difference I'm feeling?  Or maybe there is a mm or something of difference??  I'll obviously try the brass one a few more times and see what happens.

I think all the Generals are the same, just different metals. I could be wrong though as I only had the aluminum General.

The added weight does take a few shaves to dial in.

My first shave with the SE2 was fine but it took a few shaves to get use to the weight and dial it in. The ATT SE1/SE2 is the heaviest razor I have.

I think I posted earlier that the Rx was my choice...and it still is.  But I am really really liking the MR SE.  A very close contender...

I'll be adding the aluminum SE1 to my SS SE1/SE2 soon.

I haven't reached for any other razor since having the SE1/SE2. The El Jefe and Mr SE are sitting on my counter saying WTF(what the Florida)... I did a side by side comparison with the SE2 and MMOC one day, but that's about it...

I do go for my aluminum Generals (the two on the right) when I want a gentler shave.

I will never part with my Mongoose II SS. However, I’ve never had a bad shave with my Razorock hawk V2
