I am using muhle r89 for 2 years and i find it comfortable but not so efficient. i tried aggressive razors and found it too much for my ultra sensitive skin.
I read great reviews about the 6c and 34 hd. I tried a Lord L6 that is a merkur clone and loved it so i guess i will like the 34 hd . my question is whether the 34hd is a step up from the R89 or
should i add another 30% in price and go with the rockwell? the rockwell has raving reviews but i find it weird to play with plates changing during a shave.

Hello Damon,

My favorite plate is the R4, but I also use the 5 & 6.

I almost never change plates during the shave, but if I have to for some reason, it's not that difficult!

+1 on the Rockwell 6C, picked mine up brand new for $40. It is a really great razor and has a quality build with very nice chrome plating. R4 is my most used baseplate but i used R2-R6 depending .. sometimes i do 3 passes R6-R4-R2 and it gives me a BBS every time.
In the category of non stainless steel razors i would rank this #1 in my collection, the versatility with the different plates, the quality and the performance can't be beat for the money

I agree with the 4-6 plates. I just now mowed down 3 days growth with the 5 for the first 2 passes and then flipped to the 6 for my final pass and cleanup...BBS result!

The Rockwell is amazing!!

Throw out those Rockwell blades when you get it. Get yourself some Personna Reds or Pol Silver's. The Rockwell blades are not very good. The razor, however, is fantastic.

good suggestion.  I did not like the rockwell blades either...a bit too rough for my taste.

The Rockwell blades simply suck. I’ve had great shaved with the blades mentioned above, PermaSharps, and GSB’s.

The razors are very good. My patience in waiting for the Model T is getting short, though...

I view 100 Rockwell blades as a 90 day supply.  Most seem to supply a nice shave #1. The only time i stopped 20% thru the first pass of the 2nd shave and discarded the blade was with Rockwell blades.

I have not tried the 6c, but I have the 34 hd and can say that its a wonderful little razor. I use the word little because the handle is shorter than your r89, which just makes the razor easier to control.

Not for me... the R4 is the sweet spot.
