There are so many great US artisan soaps. Some great Canadian ones as well. My personal favorites would have to be
Mikes - Hungarian Lavendar
CRSW - Bergamot & Bay
B&M - Cool, Cologne Russe, Seville, Bay Rum
Stirling - Mountain Man
Mystic Waters - Poggio dei Pini
PAA - Gondolier
Caties Bubbles

I could go on, but there are just too many to try and list. If I were you, I might look at what you can get samples of, and just restrict yourself to those brands. That would be much more cost effective, while allowing your friend to try a wider variety of soaps and scents.

Although I don’t have all these soaps, I have most of them. Great choices!

Agree with Jack.  Highly underrated. Under the radar. Whatever you want to call it. Their whole line is superb.

Also agree with Johnny, although MWF is British, not USA or Canadian.

As Maggards have very reasonable international shipping rates I'd focus on soaps that can't be bought from them.  I'd suggest:
  • CRSW
  • Mystic Waters
  • Grooming Dept
Scents are entirely down to personal preference.
