The Paradigm 17-4 was released by BullGoose three days ago.  I expect this razor will generate a lot of comments, and it makes sense to gather all those comments in one thread.  Therefore, please post all your thoughts and pictures of the razor here.  This will be a very interesting thread to follow.

A stunning razor. I was impressed by the weight listing. I never understood why any razor needs to be over 100g.

I received the razor the other day and used it this morning.

I put in a Yellow, lathered up a Paladin cobalt Chief with LPL Oud and went to work. I found that the razor is a bit to mild for me, I compare the shave of this razor to the Timeless 68 SB leaning towards the efficiency of the 68 OC. A few of he razors that I use regularly are the Asylum Brass XL with the T plate, Timeless SS 95 OC, MR-SE with a Feather Super Pro. And when I need a quick close shave weeper free I choose the General Brass with a Feather Super Pro.

Thanks for the update. I'm tempted but now I'm not. The General & the Ikon MR-SE are my top and only razors for the past couple of months.

Surprised to hear it's mild.
Wasn't the Titanium one super aggressive, or am I getting that mixed up with something else?

It isn't.  I can achieve a two pass BBS with it and I have a fairly thick beard. While everyone's face is different, I find it more efficient than a Standard Wolfman or BBS1. YMMV.

There is less blade feel than some razors but, it definitely is not mild.

The razor arrived yesterday and I shaved with it this morning.  This is one handsome piece of hardware.  It stunning.  Fit and finish are impeccable.  It is well balanced.  Compared to my Titanium Paradigm it is more compact (a few mm shorter than my blackbird).  It is was amazingly smooth and very efficient.  Three pass BBS with no need for touch ups and no irritation or weepers.  It has less blade exposure and feel than the Titanium Paradigm but is just as efficient.  This one is a keeper for sure.

It is not mild.  Less blade feel than the Titanium version but every bit as efficient.

It is definitely a beauty.
And I L-O-V-E the handle.

I am not opposed to less blade feel and high efficiency.

On alert!

Mine is still showing as not having been shipped yet. Hopefully it is a USPS attacking glitch.

It definitely shipped. USPS tracking, especially this time of year, is unreliable.

Thanks Phil! I have had issues very recently with the USPS both with tracking and shipping a package they picked up. No worries at all.

Let's keep an eye on it. It looks like they failed to scan the package. Ugh

I've had USPS deliver a package which their tracking showed had not left yet.

Received mine today - lightning fast shipping as always and finish is really well done.

Would liked to have seen a logo or something on the underside of the baseplate but the razor also has a very clean look on the flip side - so no big deal.

First shave tomorrow morning. Can’t wait!

First shave was just as Phil said - BBS in two passes. This razor is so smooth on ATG passes. Not sure if it’s the heftier weight or what, but it Shaves as well as my Weber ARC but will less pressure needed.

Paradigm + Polsilver = magic

Definitely not too mild! Beautiful razor that feels great with nice weight. Shave is on par with my beloved SE1. Very efficient with nice audible feedback. I have a very coarse beard and I do a 3 pass shave with touch ups no matter what razor I use, but i was very smooth after 2 passes like Phil said and could have stopped but kept going just because I like to. I have the TR-2 also and this is more agressive than that razor without being harsh like an R41. Very pleased with this razor!

Nice reports guys.  Anyone have the TI Paradigm as well as this new SS Paradigm.  Will be interested to hear the compare/contrast as I was lucky enough to use the TI version on the pass-around.
